Race 1 (1:20pm) FARASI LANE
Two victories in ten starts and has looked in strong form recently, taking the spoils at Sandown (7f, good to soft), when 2.5 lengths clear of Il Bandito. Rise of 5lbs isn’t ideal in this stronger contest, but favourable conditions enhances his chances here, with Tom Marquand continuing onboard.
Race 2 (1:55pm) MUSIC SOCIETY
Five career victories so far and comes into this race in strong form, winning last month at Pontefract (6f, good to firm), when beating Abduction by a head and bagging successive second’s at Hamilton (6f, good) and York (6f, good to firm). Due for an 8lbs rise in handicaps and this could be a great chance to bag another win, before that changes.
Race 3 (2:30pm) URBAN ARTIST
Cracking form at the back end of last season, sealing a treble at Newmarket (1m 4f, heavy) in a fillies contest, 2 lengths clear of Ice Sprite. Has kept up the standard this season so far, with a run of -223, with the third last time out, coming at Pontefract (1m 4f, good to firm) in a listed contest. Strong chances, off the back of that run, but will need to bring her best. Conditions look ideal this afternoon.
Race 4 3:05pm) **(WONDERFUL TONIGHT**
Winner of five, in six races on soft/heavy ground, while zero from three on good or good to soft conditions. Secured a treble, with a win at Royal Ascot (1m 3f, soft) in the Hardwicke Stakes, 1.5 lengths clear of Broome. 3lbs rise today, but if conditions deteriorate as expected, she will be very difficult to beat, but either way should feature prominently.
Race 5 (3:40pm) HURRICANE IVOR
Two time winner in France, over 6f tips, but has so far been raced over 5f since switching to the WIllie Haggas yard. Picked up a victory at Sandown (5f, good to soft) earlier this month, before a second at Ascot (5f, good), three weeks ago, when beaten by a shorthead to Significantly. Looks well in under penalty and should feature now back over 6f.
Race 6 (4:10pm) RING OF BEARA
Wootton Bassett colt, out of Harem Mistress, who cost 200,000gns as a yearling. Dam is a half-sister to two useful winners, ot of a Group placed runner. Only debutant in this contest with a Group entry and it will be interesting to see if Richard Hughes’s charge can hit the ground running. Ryan Moore is onboard to give him the best opportunity.
