Race 1 (1:00pm) BIRCHDALE
Two career wins came in opening two starts, but has not been able to replicate that in seven runs since, although a third at Kempton (2m 2f, a/w) in a jumpers bumper back in February offered encouragement, which was backed up with a strong performance over hurdles at Cheltenham(2m 3f, good to soft) in March, placing sixth of twenty-eight in the Grade 3 – Coral Cup. Resumes chasing today, but can build on that form today.
Race 2 (1:30pm) LORD SCHNAPPS
Nine race maiden, who had placed twice in chases back in 2019, including at Sligo (2m 4f, good to yielding). Ran once last year, when being pulled-up at Killarney (2m 4f, yielding), but has joined Dr Richard Newlands yard, who does quite well with newcomers. Chances, if the good doctor can work his magic again.
Race 3 (2:05pm) RANCO
Picked up a maiden win at the seventh time of asking, in his penultimate run at Windsor (1m 3f, good to firm) last month, when 2 lengths clear of Hawridge Flyer. Makes handicap debut over hurdles and looks capable of transferring recent form across. Tom Scudamore rides.
Race 4 (2:40pm) LOST HISTORY
Two wins in twenty-nine starts and has not really featured in the five races ran this year so far, with a latest of seventh at Chelmsford (1m 6f, a/w), some 14 lengths adrift. Has hurdling experience and makes his debut for Dan Skelton. Intriguing runner, who is a strong market leader.
Race 5 (3:15pm) TERRAFIRMA LADY
Six race maiden, whose best result came at Wincanton (2m 5f, good to soft) in December, when third of sixteen. Has since been pulled-up and placed seventh in the following two starts, but they were on unsuited, very soft conditions. More favourable ground underfoot should help and the capable Tom Cannon continues onboard.
Race 6 (3:45pm) JOHNNY B
Seven race maiden, who has placed in four of those so far, including a second at Worcester (2m 7f, good) last time out. He was odds on that day, but couldn’t cope with Presenting Jeremy, who won by 15 lengths. Expect him to be in the mix once more for the spoils.
