The first race is a 6f Sprint, with fourteen taking on this Class 4 outing. Magical Spirit is the first of the GG selections. Winner of two out of the last four starts, including a win over course and distance last time out on return from a wind op. Comes into the race four pounds heavier and with tougher competition, but has a good chance.
Favourite Astro Jakk will be looking to continue the form that has seen a win and two seconds in three career starts, while John Kirkup will be hoping to recreate the same form, when winning at Ayr last month.
Next up is a 1m, Class 6 Handicap with thirteen runners taking part. Puchita is the next GG choice. Despite being a twenty-six race maiden, recent runs in cheek-pieces have aided improvement in their performance, with a second and third at Wolverhampton recently. If this can continue, they can push for places, but it will be a tough ask, against a competitive field.
The midway point of the Scoop 6 is our first from Chelmsford, with a fourteen runner Handicap over a mile. Caribbean Spring is the GG pick here, with the joint OR and RPR leader looking to return to the form that has seen four A/W wins. Finished third here over seven furlong in September, before a disappointing fifth under the same remit, six days ago. Mile trip should suit here.
Race four is over 1m 5f, with fourteen taking on this Class 6 Handicap. Joint favourite Royal Dancer is the GG selection here and won recently at Brighton in early October. Made debut on fibresand at Southwell which was a little disappointing, but should improve after that first experience.
Falcon Cliffs is the other joint favourite. The horse has failed to win in the last twenty-two runs, but has a second and third to their name in recent trips, thanks to a drop in weight. Certainly the main threat to the GG pick here, with the others 7/1 bar.
The penultimate race is a 6f sprint, with nine runners taking part in this Handicap. Knockout Blow is the GG choice here. Has not been able to follow up the win in July at Brighton, however a fourth at Kempton last time out on a return to the A/W puts him in with a chance here, if they can repeat the feat.
The final leg of the Scoop 6 is a 5f charge back at Newcastle, with fourteen taking on this Class 6 Handicap. Vallarta is the final GG selection for the day and recently won at Hamilton in September on heavy ground. Picked up a second at Southwell after that, but there are some question marks over his return to Tapeta. Has a chance on form, but may need to adjust to a surface he has not run on since 2017.
