LOTARA (stall 11 of 11) ran a pleasing race over 6f at Ayr on her reappearance last month, finishing strongly into fourth place in a fillies’ handicap - a race that has worked out well. The winner, Love Oasis, defied a 4lb higher mark a few weeks later and was just touched off at Chester on Saturday when running off a10lb higher mark. Runner-up Duchess Of France scored by almost three lengths in a field of 14 at the Curragh when 8-1 on her next start and was then placed at the same venue off a 12lb higher mark than at Ayr. Third-home Mininggold was a 16-1 Pontefract winner on her next outing and the seventh, Sarabi, was beaten by a head when 8-1 at Beverley.
Lotara herself trailed home 13th on her next start but was stepping up to Class 3 level in the William Hill Tartan Trophy Consolation Race, wasn’t best drawn in stall 6 and the 66-1 shot was probably unsuited by the drop to 5f.
She’s returns to Ayr for the 6f Class5 Wemyss Bay Holiday Park Handicap on Monday (3.00) and looks over-priced at around the 16-1 mark.
