track-bias-diary-v2Having napped the Roger Fell-trained IMAGINE IF at Musselburgh last month where he beat only one home it was gutting to see him win at 33-1 at Southwell next time when I didn’t have a penny on. I thought he had no chance from stall 14 of 14 that day and it was some effort to win down the stands’ side, generally not the place to be on the straight 5f course at Southwell. He can defy a penalty in the 5f apprentice handicap at Ripon today (6.15).

Imagine If came to my attention after his eighth at Limerick for another yard last October where he did well to finish so close after racing prominently from a low draw (the race was dominated by high-drawn hold-up horses). It’s interesting to see that KUPA RIVER, tenth in that race and only a short head and a nose behind Imagine If, has also ended up in the care of Roger Fell after Middleham Park racing bought him for £34,000 in November. He can make a winning start for his new yard in the 6f PPR Foundation Handicap at Ripon (4.00) where his stall 2 of 20 draw could be an advantage.

Kupa River – Ripon 4.00 (1pt win, 8-1 generally)

Imagine If – Ripon 6.15 (1pt win, 10-1 Bet365, 8-1 generally)
