All pricing correct as of 8:50am, 30th June
(1) (8:45pm Leicester) PEARL BEACH was 7/1, now 9/4
Five career runs so far without success, but has found improved results since dropping down the ratings and extending the trip, with the third place a fortnight ago at Chelmsford over 1m 2f, the best of the bunch so far. Dam was a winner over today’s 1m 4f trip so holds plenty of sway here in a low level field.
(2) (6:45pm Leicester) ACT OF MAGIC was 14/1, now 5/2
Struggled since picking up wins in the first half of 2019, failing to make an impact on the all-weather over the Winter. Returned from a five month break, when fourth at Yarmouth, behind race rival, Jeanette May in a much needed run and should come into this sharper. Well backed in overnight and looks the main threat to favourite, Chetan.
(3) (2:00pm Doncaster) ICE LORD was 7/1 now 3/1
Without a victory since 2018 (9 races), but has been there or thereabouts since, with a second at Newbury back in October, before a break. Returned at Newmarket twenty-five days ago, when third after a hampered start. Comes in 5lbs lower than when last won and has a strong chance to bag a victory here.
(4) (3:00pm Doncaster) TOM COLLINS was 22/1 now 7/2
A trio of poor results looks harsh on this David Elsworth runner, but two of those were in Group 3 company, while the last was in a Class 2 at Royal Ascot, when 8 lengths behind the winner.
He did win a Class 4 back in October and the return to a more workable level should give him ample opportunity to get back to winning ways. Folk Dance offers the biggest threat, but should go close.
(5) (6:00pm Chepstow) ET TU BRUTE was 10/1, now 10/3
Promising sort, who didn’t get much luck on debut at Windsor eight days ago, when hampered 4f out and his saddle slipped going into the final 2f. If he can avoid any more drama, he should be challenging strong favourite, Bodak Yellow here.
