Cheltenham Festival News – British Novice Chasers to Advertise Claims in Reynoldstown

Apple Away

A quartet of British-trained hopefuls for the Grade 1 novice chases at the 2024 Cheltenham Festival have been declared for the Grade 2 Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase at Ascot on Saturday. Chief among those is Apple Away, a Grade 1 winning novice hurdler for Lucinda Russell at Aintree last season.

The seven-year-old has entries in both the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase and National Hunt Chase in a month’s time. She was recently second to impressive winner Grey Dawning at Warwick, but will look to find the form of her wide-margin success at Leicester in December again here.

Anthony Honeyball’s Kilbeg King also holds entries in both of those novice contests. He was last seen finishing a gallant third behind French superstar Il Est Francais in the Grade 1 Kauto Star Novices’ Chase at Kempton, form which sees him arrive at Ascot with more than a fighting chance.

Brave Kingdom and Henry’s Friend also boast Cheltenham entries and will look to advertise their outside claims on Saturday. Dan Skelton’s The King Of Ryhope is the only member of the five strong line-up without an entry in any race at the Cheltenham Festival as yet, but could be supplemented if causing an upset in this race.
