Nicky Henderson’s Lulamba is the star name among the 37 horses holding entries for the 2025 Triumph Hurdle, which is the first race on Cheltenham Gold Cup day on Friday 14th March. Impressive on his British debut, the Seven Barrows inmate is a hot favourite for the Triumph Hurdle, but could face some notable rivals in the Grade 1 contest. We take a look at the entries for the race here.

A clear winner at Auteuil back in October, Lulamba was then switched to the Henderson yard and was reportedly producing fine displays on the gallops. Well backed in the ante-post betting for the Triumph Hurdle, the four-year-old son Nirvana Du Berlais showed the talk was merited as he scooted to an impressive victory at Ascot last weekend. Travelling serenely well for Nico De Boinville, the odds-on favourite quickened in decent fashion to beat the valuable purchase Mondo Man by over three lengths and that pair could clash again come March.
Rated in the mid-80s on the Flat for James Fanshawe, East India Dock has made good progress since switching to the jumping sphere and wins at Wincanton and Cheltenham has pushed him into the Triumph picture. A runaway 18-length winner of the Triumph Hurdle Trial at Cheltenham back in November highlighted the James Owens-trained juvenile’s ability to perform around the track and he is one that is of interest for many.

Gavin Cromwell’s Hello Neighbour and Lady Vega Allen for Willie Mullins fought out a tight finish in the Grade 2 Leopardstown Juvenile Hurdle on Boxing Day and that pair are prominent figures in the latest betting for the race. Both have already shown a high level on the track and pulled seven lengths clear of Sony Bill that day. The former has since gone on to win the Grade 1 juvenile hurdle at Leopardstown during the Dublin Racing Festival to cement his place as one of the premier Irish four-year-olds.
Palladium could be another exciting youngster for the abovementioned Henderson and the juvenile who was bought for over £1m was a winner on hurdling debut, while Sainte Lucie could be another for the Mullins team. The Rich Ricci-owned contender was an 11-length winner at Punchestown on New Year’s Eve and is entitled to come on for that run and could take his chance.

The Triumph Hurdle market is always ever-changing with horses making their debuts on the track in the months leading up to the race, but already the start of the season has thrown up some smart juveniles and it’s set to be a superb way to kick off the final day of the Cheltenham Festival.
