Karl Hedley (@KarlHedley1) was in fantastic form with his tips on Saturday and he has cast his eye over this weekend’s action to find his best bets.
BALLYMOY (2.25 Ascot, Saturday)
Ballymoy has finished runner-up on the last three occasions, but he may well have got stuck in the mud on his two most recent appearances and he has been given the best part of six weeks to recover after finishing a dozen lengths behind Knight In Dubai.
That is nowhere near his true level of ability, as proven when winning two races around this time last season at Haydock and a Grade 3 handicap here at Ascot. A return to a flatter track may well suit as he was clearly exposed at Bangor and Carlisle most recently. Nigel Twiston-Davies has his team in rude health and this seven-year-old is likely to be partnered by either Daryl Jacob or Sam Twiston-Davies.
Ballymoy has now been dropped to his last winning mark by the handicapper and a return to Ascot will certainly play to his strengths. He looks destined to go well in the colours of Simon Munir and Isaac Souede.
BENNYS KING (3.00 Ascot, Saturday)
Bennys King didn’t adjust to the step up to three miles quite as his trainer had hoped at Wetherby on Boxing Day, when he was beaten around a dozen lengths by the highly rated Top Ville Ben. He made a couple of scratchy jumps, which harmed his chances and Bridget Andrews was far from hard on him in the closing stages when his chance had ultimately gone.
A return to this two and a half miles will suit him better and this nine-year-old son of Oscar is worth another go. Good to soft ground would be in his favour and as he has relatively low mileage on the clock compared with a few of his rivals
A six-length defeat of Sametegal reads well as Molineaux who finished well in behind him that day has come out and franked the form subsequently. The form has also been boosted with the likes of Cap Du Nord and Highway One O One coming out to run well on their next outings. Dan Skelton has his team in excellent form and another big run from Bennys King can be expected.
