Nine Elms (17:00 Nottingham, Every Race Live On Racing Tv Apprentice Handicap)

Trainer Roy Bowring will be confident of recording another victory at his local track as NINE ELMS returns to the scene of his most impressive victory to date on Tuesday afternoon. The seven-year-old has been a reliable servant for connections on the all-weather over recent seasons but has certainly improved for the switch back to the turf in his latest starts.

Well supported off a career-low mark over course and distance back in June, Nine Elms thumped his seven rivals from the front in impressive fashion, bounding clear inside the final furlong to win eased down by 5½ lengths. Narrowly beaten in third from an 8lb higher mark at Yarmouth on his penultimate outing, Nine Elms confirmed his well-being with another creditable effort in defeat at Doncaster last time out, finishing just a neck behind his well-handicapped stablemate Back From Dubai over the mile trip.

In receipt of weight from the majority of his seven rivals on Tuesday afternoon, Nine Elms appears to hold leading claims from his current mark of 56 and with in-from rider Aiden Brookes (4-13 30%) taking over in the saddle, Roy Bowring’s seven-year-old can impress once again over course and distance and record his fifth career success.

Ribtide (18:15 Carlisle, Join Racing TV Now Handicap)

Although his form figures are far from inspiring, RIBTIDE appeals as the type to improve at some stage for trainer Adrian Nicholls.

The gelded son of Ribchester made a quiet introduction when finishing down the field at Newcastle on his debut back in February but certainly improved for that opening effort on his next start at that particular track, running well above market expectations to finish a respectable second at 33/1. Switched to the turf on his final start in novice company at Pontefract in April, the lightly-raced three-year-old was unable to build on that promising runner-up effort and struggled to make any sort of impact when encountering soft ground, fading rapidly and allowed to come home in his own time under jockey Barry McHugh.

Allocated an opening mark of 67 at Thirsk on his penultimate start, Adrian Nicholls’ sprinter entered many notebooks and trackers after catching the eye in defeat on his handicap debut. Beaten just over five lengths, Ribtide met plenty of interference throughout the six-furlong contest and ultimately crossed the line with plenty of running left. Well found in the market off the back of his luckless run on his return to the North Yorkshire venue last time out, Ribtide ultimately failed to justify strong market support on that occasion, but perhaps a line can be drawn through his latest performance given that he became unbalanced entering the final couple of furlongs and was never asked for maximum effort.

Rated 62, it wouldn’t be a total surprise to see Ribtide put it all together following a 70-day break on Tuesday evening and while he still has some questions to answer, Adrian Nicholls’ three-year-old is surely capable of better and is well worth supporting at double-figure odds.

Snap Ambush  (20:15 Chelmsford, Evo Inflatables Supports Autism In Racing Fillies’ Handicap)

A mark of 72 could still underestimate Sir Mark Prescott’s filly SNAP AMBUSH, who appears to be the type to thrive in handicaps this season for connections despite finishing second on her seasonal return at Leicester just twenty days ago.

The daughter of Almanzor built on a low-key debut at Wolverhampton with two notable efforts in defeat on the all-weather towards the end of last year. Third at Lingfield over a mile in December, she displayed a smart turn of foot to pull away from the field with a pair of promising rivals before rounding off her juvenile campaign with a staying on fifth at Kempton despite being slowly away and seemingly outpaced turning for home.

Stepped up to ten furlongs for the first time on her handicap debut off 72 at Leicester last month, Snap Ambush was perhaps unlucky to bump into one when chasing home Ralph Beckett’s race-fit filly Playday on that occasion but she certainly wasn’t disgraced in behind and connections will have been pleased with how she saw her race out in the closing stages.

Given how well her sire thrived as a three-year-old, Sir Mark Prescott will expect his filly to improve plenty this term and if taking another step forward following her return to action last month, Snap Ambush should be able to open her account at the fifth time of asking before being aimed at bigger and better targets further down the line.
