Hans Andersen (1:30 Curragh)

He may only have been second on debut, but HANS ANDERSEN was ceding a fair bit of experience to the winner La Dolce Vita.

Despite that, the son of Frankel was beaten by just ¾-of–a-length. He ran green for a fair part of the race, but still looked very promising and is likely one to watch for Aidan O’Brien as the season goes on, with plenty of the Group level juvenile prizes on offer from the summer onwards.

O’Brien’s charge actually drops slightly in trip here, racing over exactly 7f. He may have been finishing fast over half-a-furlong further on his debut, but there should be little issue coming back 100 yards.Stable debutant Cairo may also be one to watch, but Ryan Moore is unsurprisingly aboard Hans Andersen, who should be tough to stop.

Little Big Bear (2:03 Curragh)

Winner of the Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot, LITTLE BIG BEAR already looks one of the stars of the juvenile ranks.

He missed an intended reservation at Newmarket last weekend, but this reserve prize will still be a first Group race for him. It also sees him go back up in trip to 6½f, but there is stamina enough for 1m in time within his pedigree.

He has also learned with every start. A narrow defeat on debut was swiftly made up for at Naas in May while, despite being on the wrong side of the track, he came home strongly to deny Rocket Rodney at the royal meeting. That horse has since won in Listed company in very cosy fashion at Sandown.

The form is certainly clear to see. It will likely take a serious horse to stop him rising through the ranks.

Live In The Dream (3:08 Chester)

It takes a very well-treated horse to overcome stall 9 at Chester, especially over 5f. LIVE IN THE DREAM may just be talented enough though.

Adam West’s three-year-old has been in flying form this season. Since returning to turf on quicker than good ground, he has been competitive on every start, winning the first two at Sandown and at this track.

At the Surrey course he was electric, storming to a 3¾-length success off a mark of 84. An 8lb rise was not enough to stop him and Ryan Moore at Chester though, as he stormed in again from the front.

He could only finish fifth in the Epsom Dash, but that was respectable on the near-side, which was not favoured on the day. Most recently, he was runner-up in Listed company back at Sandown.

A mark of 99 is probably within range for this rapid colt. If he and 3lb claimer Sean Kirrane can get out quickly, then his wide draw may not prevent victory.

Today’s Racing

My Prospero (7:00 Saint-Cloud)

There is Group race action on the continent on Saturday, with the Group 2 Prix Eugene Adam at Saint-Cloud.

Andre Fabre has the unbeaten Junko for the hosts, but there is a very useful British challenger in MY PROPSERO for William Haggas. In the Sunderland Holding yellow and blue star, he steps up in trip to 1m2f here after competing over 1m exclusively this season.

He beat the Britannia Stakes winner Thesis on his return for the season at Newbury and then followed up by upsetting the Queen’s Reach For The Moon in the Listed Heron Stakes at Sandown. That was a powerful performance, but more was to come.

In a cracking renewal of the Group 1 St James’s Palace Stakes, he was beaten only a neck by the 2000 Guineas hero Coroebus. That is top form and as a half-brother to both My Oberon and My Astra, who have both shown their best form at 1m2f, he should be well-suited by this race.
