boyleportsIt’s Irish Grand National Day and Daryl Carter has provided through-the-card tips for every race. We’ve also teamed up with Boylesports for a £20 FREE BET ON IRISH GRAND NATIONAL DAY

FRENCH LIGHT (2.05 Fairyhouse, 13/2)

Not the most convincing bunch for the opener on Irish Grand National day but it may pay to take a chance on the top weight FRENCH LIGHT who has been keeping some warm company of late and will certainly appreciate the less testing conditions along with this drop back in grade.

He failed to stay the 2m4f trip on his handicap debut for this yard at Downpatrick in a race that wasn’t run too suit but the lesser assignment could see him play a hand in the finish. Battle Of Actium and Papal Lodge, should the latter take up this assignment, are both worthy rivals in a wide-open heat.

JEFF KIDDER (2.40 Fairyhouse, 9/2)

A highly competitive juvenile hurdle in which JEFF KIDDER is taken to confirm the promise of his Boodles Juvenile Handicap victory at Cheltenham and end the unbeaten run of Teahupoo in receipt of 3lb.

The selection was value for more than the winning margin of 2 lengths at Cheltenham and cruised past his rivals in eyecatching fashion to suggest he can rank highly among the Irish juveniles this season.

Teahupoo’s form hasn’t been done too many favours by those in behind and he faces his toughest task to date.

ILIKEDWAYURTHINKIN (NAP) (3.15 Fairyhouse, 15/2)

The switch back to hurdles and the 5lb claim of Simon Torrens could be enough to see ILIKEDWAYURTHINKIN (NAP) get back into the winner's enclosure and he looks well handicapped on the balance of his earlier hurdles form, including his 8th place finish in the 2020 renewal of the Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle.

Red Gerry and Lynwood Gold who sports a first-time tongue-tie are potential improvers in the field and both hold valid claims.

FRENCH DYNAMITE (3.50 Fairyhouse, 11/2)

A highly competitive if below-par renewal of this contest and this looks the ideal trip for FRENCH DYNAMITE who failed to stay 3m on his penultimate start at Leopardstown but has the beating of The Bosses Oscar from their clash at Thurles last February over this trip.

The standard is not set too high by the market leader Beacon Edge and he needs to prove his wellbeing after a gruelling test in the Stayers Hurdle just 18 days ago.

Stormy Ireland is interesting on her first start since rejoining Willie Mullins but it may be Unexpected Depth that poses the biggest threat dropped back in trip.

FAKIR D’OUDAIRIES (4.20 Fairyhouse, Evs)

FAKIR D’OUDAIRIES should take some stopping here if none the worse for his excellent second-place effort in the Ryanair Chase just 18 days ago as he returns to the scene of his outstanding performance in the Grade 1 Drinmore.

He has failed to get his head in front since then but has done nothing wrong over inadequate trips on five of his last six runs.

Easy Game has been more of a miss than a hit this season but rates a chief danger on his best form and the same comments apply to Battleoverdoyen and while Snow Falcon, Ornua and Castlegrace Paddy are getting long in the tooth, they all will be waiting in the wings should the favourite underperform in an excellent contest.

THE BIG DOG (5.00 Fairyhouse, 10/1)

A wide-open contest in which a case can be made for many with Robin De Carlow one of the more interesting runners on return from a long absence and he won't be wanting for fitness from this yard. The booking of Rachael Blackmore suggests she is ready to go.

Fitzhenry caught the eye at Naas under tender handling from off the pace and looks weighted to go well while Salsaretta shouldn’t be written off now stepped up in trip.

Latest Exhibition will attempt to become the first horse in the last 10 years to win this race carrying a riding weight of more than 11st 4lb but is the class act in the race and must be feared.

However, THE BIG DOG is a horse that looks tailor-made for a national trip and his handicap mark of 145 looks more than fair. His unexposed profile and assured jumping means he is a reliable bet in this contest and the extra distance is a big plus for this relentless galloper.

THE GUNNER MURPHY (5.40 Fairyhouse, 10/3)

THE GUNNER MURPHY hasn’t lived up to the promise of his hurdle form over fences in six starts but his return effort at Down Royal did yield some promise and this handicap mark of 120 looks well within reach now up in trip.

Rapid Response is starting to look well treated but she has shown very little this term over fences so it may be Valdieu who has been nothing but consistent on yielding or better ground who poses the biggest threat.
