Top PicksThe eleven days over the festive period, between the 22nd December and New Year’s Day brought a sleighful of quality racing. Among the highlights, we had the JLT Hurdle, King George VI Chase, Welsh Grand National and Desert Orchid Chase, with plenty of betting to be had over the holiday period.

Our GG Tipsters managed to pick out a fair few winners in between the turkey sandwiches, with Kevin O’Malley in especially red hot form on Boxing Day. Check out how Kevin, Andrew Mount and Sam Turner did over the celebratory period in our review.

Kevin O’Malley

We kick off with Kevin O’Malley and what has to be one of his best periods of tipping, as our lead tipster bagged a mega Twenty-two results!!

Boxing Day was a day to savour, with thirteen selections hitting their marks for our GG man. These included Verdana Blue (6/1) in the Unibet Christmas Hurdle on Boxing Day, followed by Dynamite Dollars (7/2) in the Wayward Lad Novices Chase and Elegant Escape in the Coral Welsh National at Chepstow on Thursday.

Other highlights include: Top Notch at 22/1 in the Long Walk Hurdle, an each-way first and third in the same race at Wetherby, where Lake View Lad (9/2) finished ahead of Takingrisks (13/2). Whilst on New Years Day, Hey Bud landed a 25/1 each-way punt on New Years Day.

Sam Turner

Sam Turner had a solid Christmas period, with the previously mentioned Dynamite Dollars (7/2) and Elegant Escape (5/1 e/w), both coming home for our tipster, while on New Years Day, Ballyhill scored an 8/1 e/w pick at Cheltenham, which was among a half dozen results picked up by our tipping expert, with the highlight of those remaining, being a 5/1 each-way selection in Captain Chaos at Wetherby.

Andrew Mount

Andrew Mount had a quieter than usual time, with a handful of results. 6/1 winner: Mercers was the top priced winner for our tipster, with an impressive victory over the favourite at Lingfield. Elsewhere, Aso at 9/2 won the Betbright Handicap Chase at Cheltenham by two lengths and Western Ryder was a 7/1 each-way pick at Ascot, finishing third.

Despite the post Christmas and New Year lull, there are still plenty of meetings around, with the coming weekend featuring a top card at Sandown among others, so remember to check out all the latest Tipping Blogs from our team, who will be covering all the minor, medium and major meetings in the coming days and all for free at GG.CO.UK
