CAIRDE GO DEO (Ger Lyons, Colin Keane) 22/1

Daughter of Camelot who has won three of her six career starts. Won at the second attempt as a juvenile, scoring by 4½ lengths in a strong race, ensuring she went off favourite for the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes come the end of the season. Only sixth there and third in Listed Salsabil Stakes on return only a modest performance, but has won both since stepping up in trip. Eight-length winner at Navan before defeat of Boundless Ocean over this distance at Leopardstown and trending in the right direction to go well.

EMILY DICKINSON (Aidan O’Brien, Seamie Heffernan) 16/1

Two quite sizeable defeats either side of the new year, as this filly took a while to get going in her racing career. Did win at the third attempt at Naas before unable to justify favouritism in Lingfield’s Oaks Trial. Potentially still green even then, but after nearly nine weeks off, she ran a belter last week in the Group 3 Stanerra Stakes, going down by just a short head to the prolific Rosscarbery. Needed every yard of 1m6f to get as close as she did and stable have a more obvious chance, but could stay on for a place.

EMILY UPJOHN (John & Thady Gosden, Frankie Dettori) 1/2

Huge, strapping filly, who was a short head from remaining unbeaten in the Oaks. Won her first three, with the last of those, in the Musidora Stakes, particularly striking. Kicked clear to win by 5½ lengths that day, setting her up to be a short-priced favourite at Epsom. However, she stumbled from the stalls, ultimately costing her victory despite a fine late charge. Every chance she proves very difficult to beat with a level break and bigger assignments await after this.

FENNELA (Jessica Harrington, Chris Hayes) 33/1

Only three starts so far, building on every one. Sixth to Emily Dickinson on debut, followed by a fourth at the Curragh, both over 1m2f. Move up to 1m4f at the latter venue worked well, as did the application of cheekpieces, when she won cosily on her third effort. Runner-up was a very well-bred Ballydoyle filly, while the third had decent form prior too. Nevertheless, this is a big rise in class and unlikely to suddenly prove top class here.

HISTORY (Aidan O’Brien, Wayne Lordan) 14/1

2,800,000gns purchase as a yearling made her one of the most expensive purchases of recent years. Won on her third attempt last season at Gowran Park and bounced out at the start of this season, claiming the Group 3 Cornelscourt Stakes at the start of May. Only seventh in the Irish 1000 Guineas afterwards and though third in the Ribblesdale Stakes was a step forward when upped to 1m4f, she has a fair bit to find with the winner.

MAGICAL LAGOON (Jessica Harrington, Shane Foley) 4/1

Winner of a Group 3 on just her second start, having been beaten into fourth on her first. Obviously held in high regard by her trainer and concluded her juvenile season by finishing seventh in the Fillies’ Mile. Reappearance saw her finish second to Concert Hall in the Listed Salsabil Stakes over 1m2f when denied virtually on the line, then battled to a very gutsy success in the Ribblesdale Stakes. That will stand her in very good stead here and she is the clear danger to the favourite on form.

SHOW OF STARS (Trainer/Jockey) 33/1

Consistent filly so far in her career, but only one win from six starts to show for it. That came in a Dundalk maiden last season and has not managed to make her mark in Pattern company. Form to overturn with History and Magical Lagoon and last of three last time out when favourite is alarming. Step up in trip could suit, but definitely not on breeding and is a genuine outsider.

TOY (Aidan O’Brien, Ryan Moore) 33/1

Showed distinct promise in first three runs, form of 221 showing slight progression each time. Won by five lengths in a Cork maiden, but then only 11th when quietly fancied for the Poule d’Essai Des Pouliches (French 1000 Guineas). Even further back in the Prix de Diane and while she is a sister to seven extremely high-performing siblings, including Gleneagles, Happily and Joan Of Arc, she currently comes out as the weakest. 1m4f unlikely to be her best trip either.

Verdict

Magical Lagoon is tough and can give EMILY UPJOHN something to think about, but the Gosden filly is miles clear on form. She really should be coming here as an unbeaten Epsom Oaks winner and it will probably take a repeat of her false start the last day for her to be beaten. Cairde Go Deo and  Emily DIckinson are next best for those seeking an each-way alternative.
