ITV Racing Antepost Selections – Tips For All Nine Races On Saturday

Kinross

It is a busy Saturday on ITV Racing this weekend, as nine races are packed into a full schedule. Haydock, Beverley and Chester will all have races screened live, and we have tips and selections in every race, alongside FansBet who are offering a 200% Welcome Bonus Up To £200.

Equilateral (1.45 Haydock) 4/1

With Dragon Symbol not completely convincing on his return, it might be worth chancing EQUILATERAL on his comeback as a seven-year-old.

It has been over a year since we have seen Charlie Hills’ star. However, his record when fresh is astounding. His form after a break of at least 50 days (including his debut) reads 111311261. That “6” represents a sixth-placed effort, beaten only 2¾ lengths, in the Curragh’s Group 1 Flying Five Stakes in 2020.

That is a truly phenomenal record and while he has never endured a longer spell on the dieslines than this one, he did win a Doncaster novice in May 2018 after his longest break thus far of 251 days. Absence from the racecourse simply makes his hooves grow stronger.

Last he was seen, Equilateral was fourth in the 2021 Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan over 6f. He had previously won in Dubai in a 5f Group 2. If he retains anything near the full level of his ability, he will be in with a great chance.

Absolutelyflawless (2.05 Beverley) SP

Jockeys’ Championship favourite William Buick takes over on ABSOLUTELYFLAWLESS despite Laura Pearson having guided her to her two victories to date.

Indeed, Pearson did a smashing job to get David Loughnane’s charge up at Chester last time. She had won well at Southwell despite being slowly away on her debut, but to do something similar on the constantly-winding Roodee was impressive.

That came in the Lily Agnes Conditions Stakes and Pearson had to bide her time aboard the daughter of Ribchester before bursting through a gap to win comfortably. Her rider did well, but it took a performance of some quality from the horse too, who could easily be among the top juvenile fillies this term, particularly in sprints.

This represents the step up to Listed company and while Aidan O’Brien’s Deneuve and course and distance winner Primrose Ridge are also interesting.

Forza Orta (2.20 Haydock) 6/1

It would be no surprise if Mahrajaan proved extremely popular for William Haggas and Jim Crowley, in the colours of Shadwell Estate.

However, despite a comfortable win in handicap company at Hamilton last season over this trip, he does not represent a lot of value off the back of his last run, in which he was beaten 3½ lengths at York. He is up 1lb for that run too.

Instead, the vote goes to FORZA ORTA, who might well have the best form in the race. Indeed, Kevin Ryan’s four-year-old has never been outside the first three in nine starts and still promises further progression.

He was a battling winner at Hamilton on his penultimate start before finishing an excellent second to a very well-handicapped rival at York under a 5lb penalty. He is up a further 3lb, but that should not stop him from being involved once again.

Blue For You (2.40 Beverley) SP

David O’Meara currently has two among the entries. Arranmore would be the selection were he to run, but he is also declared at Beverley on Wednesday.

Similarly, were he not to take up this option, that would be a show of faith if hen then declares BLUE FOR YOU for this race. Many pundits bang the drum about O’Meara’s handling of new recruits, but regardless of that fact, he has enough about him to be involved anyway.

The son of New Approach was trained by Dermot Weld up to this point, winning twice. He took the scalp of Wembley, when Aidan O’Brien’s charge was a top juvenile, while he also won a handicap over 1m at Leopardstown last season. When he was on form, he was very capable.

In seven starts, those two wins represent the only two times he has placed, so perhaps he was not the most consistent. However, he is only 2lb higher than when winning in Ireland and this race could cut up. A mark of 93 is not insurmountable.

Sea La Rosa (2.55 Haydock) 10/3

Albaflora is the class form on her best efforts, but she was extremely disappointing at Chester on her reappearance having previously shown good form when fresh.

The grey can be taken on and the Haggas bandwagon can keep rolling with SEA LA ROSA. The four-year-old carries the colours of Sunderland Holding Inc, who won three Listed races in as many days last week, all courtesy of Haggas and Tom Marquand.

Sea La Rosa has never finished outside the first four in her ten-race career and showed a steady improvement throughout last season. Last July, she was beaten by Viola, who is initially entered alongside her here, in receipt of 12lb in a handicap, but comfortably turned that form around by the end of the season.

Moreover, she stepped up to win in Listed company at Lingfield in October, storming away to win by 4½ lengths. If she improves again at four, with her trainer’s form a massive boon to that, she could take all the beating.

Silencer (3.15 Beverley) SP

Again alternative declarations ensure that the selection would change if Tajalla runs here. However, Roger Varian’s colt looks set to run at Sandown on Thursday instead.

As such, we will plump for an intriguing newcomer in SILENCER for Richard Hannon. He is by the same sire in Tajalla in Kessaar, who is likely to have a number of forward types this term. Tajalla remains the only winner as yet, but he has had only nine of his progeny meet a racecourse as yet, and a further five have placed already early in their careers.

Similarly, there must have been something about Silencer that impressed those at Qatar Racing, as despite having been a £25,000 purchase at the Goffs UK Premier yearling sale last August, he was snapped up for £160,000, over six times as much, after a Breeze-Up last month. That is quite the mark up.

Having never raced before, he would be receiving weight from almost all his opposition here too. He has an option at Salisbury too, but after such a purchase, the more ambitious and alluring choice should be to run him here.

Kinross (3.30 Haydock) 11/2

The Group 3 John Of Gaunt Stakes is one of the bigger races of the weekend and could well herald another star miler for Haggas and Shadwell in Aldaary.

He found handicap company frustrating for most of last season, but finally made a breakthrough in the autumn. He won twice at Ascot on heavy and then good-to-soft in the Balmoral Handicap on Champions Day. However, by that point of the day, the ground had surely cut up beyond what was officially described.

He earned his first Pattern win on return, but that also came on soft and there must be doubts given all six of his career wins have come with “soft” or heavier in the going description. As such, KINROSS rates a better bet, as a horse more experienced in this kind of company.

Ralph Beckett’s five-year-old won this race last season on his return before following up in the Group 2 Lennox Stakes at Goodwood. He may also like a bit of cut in the ground, but certainly is not as reliant on it as the favourite.

Moreover, he is one of those frustrating horses whose ideal trip is 7f, the distance at which the fewest Group 1s are run in Europe shorter than 1m. This will therefore be treated as a key milestone in his season by connections.

Boosala (3.45 Chester) SP

There are currently 20 entered in this handicap, and though 14 is the maximum field size, a large number of declarations will ensure this selection is very changeable.

That is because the draw could play havoc if BOOSALA is drawn particularly wide. Nevertheless, he rates a fine option for this contest after being second over course and distance last time. He was beaten a nose by Red Mirage, who has the better run of the race from stall two, with Boosala having been in stall five.

His record in handicaps now reads 122, all having come over around 7f. He is up just 1lb for that last run despite arguably coming out of it best and hailing from the Haggas yard, he could easily step back up to Listed or Group company more successfully than he has done in the past.

Again, a little rain may help, but he is not averse to good ground. Any decent draw would give him a massive chance.

Noonie (3.50 Beverley) SP

It is worth keeping the faith with NOONIE, who was selected in GG’s Top Tips page as the outsider when she made her return here at Beverley a fortnight ago.

She ran an absolute screamer that day, being beaten by just a nose at 16/1. That was on her debut for Edward Bethell and showed that faith in her stamina, being by Almanzor, and switch of yard was justified by connections. That still leaves her winless in six career starts, but she now has three seconds and a third to her name.

She is getting closer and having been beaten only ¾ lengths by Oaks fancy With The Moonlight in a Chelmsofrd maiden last season, she clearly has ability. The step up further to 1m4f also looked exactly what is required, as she looks more of a relentless galloper than a filly with a huge turn of foot.

This track did appear to suit her though and a 2lb rise for such a narrow defeat can be taken as light punishment. Hopefully she can get the job done this time.
