Royal Ascot 2020 Day 5 Trends – Top tips and get up to £40 in free bets

Horse racing royal ascot

There may be changes to the running order. but it can still be worth taking a look at the key trends. We’ve looked at the last few years ahead of Royal Ascot Day 4 to see who we think fits all the key trends.Check out our tips and claim up to £40 IN FREE BETS WITH BETFRED

SILVER WOKINGHAM HANDICAP (12.40 Royal Ascot)

New race

QUEEN MARY STAKES (1.15 Royal Ascot)

17/18 finished first or second last time out

15/18 had won over 5f or shorter

16/18 won by a horse foaled between January-March

9/12 drawn in stall 12 or higher

6/12 from top three in the betting

It pays to concentrate on those previous winners who are foaled early and are towards the fore in the market. One who fits the bill is SANDS OF TIME who also seemingly has a decent draw in stall 12

COVENTRY STAKES (1.50 Royal Ascot)

18/18 won their previous race

16/18 returned 8/1 or shorter

15/18 from top three in betting

13/18 foaled in either February or March

12/18 won over 6f before

10/12 came from stall 6 or higher

Another juvenile contest with early foals always performing well and it pays to look at the head of the market. Trends narrow the field down to four with the market suggesting the one to focus on is the Aidan O’Brien-trained ADMIRAL NELSON

CORONATION STAKES (2.25 Ascot)

18/18 had won over at least 7f before

16/18 returned 8/1 or shorter

13/18 had previously won at Group 1 or 2 level

9/18 had run at Ascot before

12/14 came from stalls 5 or higher

10/12 had a rating of 102 or higher

0/14 winners from stall 1

With all seven runners having surpassed the ratings standard for the race, this looks a good renewal. Only three of these, Alpine Star, Quadrilateral and Sharing, have previously been successful at Group 1 or 2 level. None of those has run at the course before so we’ll go with the US filly SHARING, who seemingly has the best draw in stall 7

ST JAMES’S PALACE STAKES (3.00 Ascot)

18/18 returned 10/1 or shorter in the betting

15/18 had won over a mile before

14/18 previous Group 1 or 2 winners

12/18 Previous Group 1 winner

12/18 returned 11/4 or shorter

10/12 rated 109 or higher

8/20 won by trainer Aidan O’Brien

Again, all of these runners have already reached the usual ratings standard. Threat could be a big danger to all, but given that 12 of the last 18 winners returned 11/4 or shorter in the market and Wichita has yet to be successful at Group 1 or 2 level, the vote goes to PINATUBO,

DIAMOND JUBILEE STAKES (3.35 Ascot)

16/17 won over 6f before

14/17 aged 5 or younger

14/17 previous Group winners

12/17 had run at Ascot before

8/17 returned double-figure prices

11/12 rated 112 or higher

This race has a habit of going to those at bigger prices. With favourite Sceptical ruled out for reasons of experience anyway, a chance is taken on SHINE SO BRIGHT, who is previous Group 2 winner, is a double-figure price and run superbly well at the royal meeting two years ago

WOKINGHAM HANDICAP (4.10 Ascot)

17/20 had won over 6f before

17/20 aged 4 or 5

12/20 returned a double-figure price

11/20 had run at Ascot before (7 had won at the track)

10/14 carried 9st 3lb or less

10/14 came from double-figure draw

It is always worth looking at outsiders in this race and LETHAL LUNCH fits the bill here. He’s the right age, races off the right weight, has a good draw in stall 22 and has won at the course before. A good run can be expected here.

QUEEN ALEXANDRA STAKES (4.40 Ascot)

11/17 had won over at least two miles before

10/17 had previous course experience

10/17 aged 4-6

10/14 returned 6/1 or shorter

8/17 trained by Gordon Elliott, Willie Mulins, Mark Johnston or Sir Michael Stoute

The last race of the meeting can go the way of THE GRAND VISIR who has won over two miles, has won at the course, is well fancied and is the right age
