Royal Ascot Ladies Day: All You Need To Know

As famous for its dress code as the races itself, day three of the Royal Ascot Meeting sees racegoers flaunt some of their very best attire on Ladies Day.

The middle afternoon of the five-day Royal Ascot showcase is designated as Ladies Day, as women were traditionally offered free or discounted tickets on day three of the races at the famous Berkshire layout.

With the Ascot Gold Cup the centrepiece on the racecourse, it is a day of sporting and social importance unmatched in the summer programme.

Royal Ascot Ladies Day Date

Royal Ascot Ladies Day takes place on Thursday, June 19th, 2025. Ladies Day is traditional on the third day of the Royal meeting at Ascot.

As with every day at Royal Ascot, there are seven races on Ladies Day from 2.30pm-6.10pm, with the Ascot Gold Cup taking centre stage.

Styling your summer occasion-wear is an integral part of the Royal Ascot tradition, woven into the very essence of the event. Each enclosure at Royal Ascot upholds its own distinguished Dress Code.

Royal Ascot Ladies Day Enclosures

Royal Enclosure

The most prestigious of Royal Ascot’s enclosures, members and their guests must adhere to the official dress code:

  • A dress or skirt falling just above the knee or longer
  • Lace and chiffon fabrics are permitted
  • Shoulder straps that are a minimum width of 1 inch / 2.5cm
  • A jacket or pashmina may be worn. Tops and dresses beneath must still comply
  • A trouser suit of matching material and colour
  • A jumpsuit that falls below the knee and complies with the shoulder strap requirements
  • Hats must be worn. However, a headpiece or hatinator with a minimum base diameter of 4 inches / 10cm is acceptable.

Queen Anne Enclosure

The only public enclosure that grants access to the coveted Parade Ring, Bandstand and Grandstand, the Queen Anne Enclosure provides an unparalleled view of the world-class racing on offer.

  • A dress or top and skirt, with shoulder or halter neck straps (lace and chiffon fabrics are permitted, no minimum length)
  • A trouser suit of matching material and colour
  • A jumpsuit that falls below the knee and complies with the shoulder strap requirements
  • A hat, headpiece or fascinator

Village Enclosure

A true celebration of British summertime, the Village Enclosure takes its place centre stage at Royal Ascot, looking towards the Grandstand for a thrilling view of the racing action on the home straight.

  • A dress or top and skirt, with shoulder or halter neck straps (lace and chiffon fabrics are permitted, no minimum length)
  • Trouser suits are welcome and should be of matching material and colour
  • Jumpsuits should fall below the knee and comply with the above strap requirements
  • A hat, headpiece or fascinator

Windsor Enclosure

Leave the everyday at the gates and step into an occasion like no other in the Windsor Enclosure. A day in this vibrant enclosure is all about picnics, panorama and play.

  • Whilst there is no official dress code for the Windsor Enclosure, guests are encouraged to dress in smart daywear. A hat, headpiece or fascinator is encouraged along with a jacket and collared shirt.

Royal Ascot Ladies Day Entertainment

When the racing is over, the action at Royal Ascot doesn’t end. Live music, al-fresco pop-ups, eclectic street food stalls and cocktail bars make for an exquisite day of fun and frivolity.

The excitement of the racing carries through into the evening in the Village Enclosure, as the Main Stage lights up with lots of thrilling performers.

Guests in the Royal and Queen Anne Enclosures are invited to join the military band at the Bandstand for a traditional sing-a-long to a selection of classics immediately following racing.
