Sir Mark Prescott Seeks Across The Card Wednesday Treble

Sir Mark Prescott has his string in fine form at the moment, operating at a healthy 22% strike rate in the last couple of weeks. Fresh off the back of a double at Brighton last week, the trainer will be confident of adding to his recent tally on Wednesday with an across-the-card treble. Check out our thoughts on each of the trio below, alongside an exclusive promotion courtesy of bet365, which is offering £50 In Free Bets to new customers, when you sign-up and bet £10.

Genesius (15:55 Lingfield, At The Races App Expert Tips Handicap)

Sir Mark Prescott’s first runner on Wednesday comes in the shape of GENESIUS, who runs in Lingfield’s concluding contest. The five-year-old was transferred over from Julie Camacho’s yard last season and it certainly didn’t take long for the Teofilo gelding to make an immediate impact for new connections, landing a pair of handicaps at Goodwood and Wolverhampton over twelve furlongs within his first five outings for the yard. However, those victories were seemingly short-lived as Genesius’s form subsequently dipped towards the end of the year, finishing down the field at York before making little impression back on the all-weather on his final two starts as a four-year-old.

Connections reach for cheek pieces on Wednesday afternoon following a lacklustre performance on his seasonal reappearance at Salisbury just eleven days ago, and although Sir Mark Prescott’s charge hasn’t looked like bouncing back to form in his recent starts, Genesius now finds himself 2lb lower than his last winning mark and the combination of first-time headgear and drop in class will surely aid his cause.

Heat And Dust (16:15 Catterick, Every Race Live On Racing TV Handicap)

Sir Mark Prescott travels all the way up to Catterick from his Newmarket base on Wednesday afternoon with just the sole runner in HEAT AND DUST, and it seems fairly significant that stable jockey Luke Morris has also decided to make the long journey up to the North Yorkshire track.

Despite being winless in her opening fifteen starts for the yard, Heat And Dust certainly had no trouble in finding the winning line earlier this month at Brighton from a mark of 54. Racing over twelve furlongs for just the third time in her career on that occasion, she made smooth headway entering the final furlong to take up the running under Luke Morris, and quickly put daylight between herself and her three rivals to win going away by five and a half lengths.

Facing a similar level of opposition on Wednesday afternoon, Heat And Dust looks more than capable of defying a 5lb penalty in this sort of company and it will be disappointing if the Oasis Dream filly fails to register her second career success.

Snap Ambush (20:55 Leicester, Kube – The Premier Events Venue In Leicester Fillies’ Handicap)

The last of the Sir Mark Prescott trio comes in the final race at Leicester, where SNAP AMBUSH will look to make an immediate impact on her handicap debut following three eye-catching outings as a juvenile last season.

The daughter of Almanzor made a quiet introduction on her debut at Wolverhampton last November but soon built on that opening effort with a taking display over a mile at Lingfield the following month, quickening up well with a pair of promising rivals to finish a clear third. Unsuited by how the race ultimately unfolded on her final start at two at Kempton in December, she did remarkably well to stick to her task despite becoming outpaced turning for home and was only beaten just over three lengths in fifth.

Given how well her sire thrived as a three-year-old, connections will expect to see plenty of improvement from Snap Ambush this campaign from an opening mark of 72. Bred to appreciate the step up to ten furlongs on Wednesday evening, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Sir Mark Prescott’s filly get off the mark at the fourth attempt on her seasonal reappearance and she very much shapes as the ideal type to climb the handicapping ranks for this yard as the season unfolds.
