Spain vs England Tips – Euro 2024 Final Predictions And Best Bets

Spain and England will do battle in the 2024 European Championships Final on Sunday night in Berlin and it’s set to be a titanic tussle between two footballing heavyweights. Gareth Southgate’s England booked their place in their second back-to-back Euros final with a 2-1 win over Netherlands, but they will be looking for more luck this time around having lost to Italy in the 2020 tournament.

Winners in 2008 and 2012, Spain are going in search of more silverware and will head into the clash as 8/5 favourites, as they look to build on two fine wins over Germany and France. Whilst the Spanish are the market leaders, England are available at 13/5 to win their first silverware in 90 minutes since 1966, while the draw is available at 19/10. Set to be an epic encounter we pick out our best bets for the clash here…

Spain vs England Tips

Tip #1 – England to win 2-1 @ 12/1

Spain are entitled to head into Sunday’s final as favourites, as they have undoubtedly been the best team in the tournament, but there was something about the way England defeated the Netherlands that suggested the Three Lions could be coming to the boil at the perfect time to claim their first European Championship crown.

The change of shape from Gareth Southgate has certainly given more licence to one of England’s star men in Phil Foden and the diminutive Manchester City attacker showed with his fine display on Wednesday that he’s ready to explode in the latter stages of the tournament.

There will be a significant emphasis on defensive duties for England with wonderkid Lamine Yamal sure to be a huge thorn in the side of the outsiders, but Kobbie Mainoo’s emergence in this tournament has certainly helped strengthen and balance the central midfield position and improved England defensively.

Southgate will have a big call on whether to start Luke Shaw from the off, as he continues his comeback from injury, but he may opt to stay loyal to Kieran Trippier for the first half and bring Shaw on at the break and that pair will have their hands full with Yamal.

Spain are certainly not a one man team, but England arguably have more matchwinners in their line-up with Foden, captain marvel Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham all capable of winning a game single-handedly, but in reserve they have more class at their disposal than their Spanish counterparts and Southgate’s substitutions could be they key factor in winning this game in the closing stages of the contest. Available at 12/1, at the time of writing, a 2-1 England win is the way to go!

Tip #2 – Phil Foden to be named Man of the Match @ 10/1

Named PFA Premier League Player Of The Year for Manchester City this season, Phil Foden can cap off a spectacular campaign by being named Man of the Match in Sunday’s final. Exquisite on the ball, Foden can look to find those little pockets of space in the final third to try and help England hit the back of the next.

Whilst his passing ability has been known for some time this season has seen him score some absolutely fantastic goals from outside the box and having hit the woodwork and had one cleared off the win against The Netherlands then he’s knocking on the door to grab his first tournament.

Jude Bellingham was the name on everybody’s lips at the start of the tournament and rightly so as he looks to land the historic treble of La Liga, Champions League and Euro 2024 glory, but the Real Madrid star can step aside and watch his fellow countryman Foden propel his nation to success for the first time in 58 years!

Spain Performances So Far During Euro 2024

Dominant during the group stages, Spain won all three games without conceding, while a 4-1 drubbing of Georgia cemented their place as the best team in the tournament throughout the first half of it. With a tough draw to the final, Spain booked their place in the final four with a 2-1 extra time win over Germany in a hard fought victory.

An electric first half against France in the semi-final saw them take a 2-1 lead into the break, but they serenely cruised through that second half against a poor French outfit, who struggled to create any clear-cut chances. With five wins and one draw in the tournament, Spain are rightly favourites, but they face another tough test in the shape of England, who are going to be a huge test on Sunday.

England Performances So Far During Euro 2024

Growing as tournaments go on is vital when winning silverware and whilst England have been pretty dreary for most of Euro 2024 they have started to find their feet after beating The Netherlands 2-1. A pretty lacklustre group phase saw them pick up one win and two draws, with only one goal score, while an extra time win over Slovakia and a penalty victory over Switzerland saw them make the last four.

But, a spirited display over the Dutch saw them outbattle them 2-1 in the semi-final and with the handbrake let off a little bit by Gareth Southgate then there’s potential to improve again for the final game of the tournament.
