Field Of Gold and Ruling Court are two of the star attractions amongst the seven runners declared for the 2025 St James’s Palace Stakes, which takes place on Tuesday 17th June at 4:30pm. Two of the star three-year-old milers this season head to Royal Ascot on the back of Classic wins with Field Of Gold having most recently won the Irish 2000 Guineas, while Ruling Court downed Field Of Gold in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket.
Having been given plenty to do at Newmarket, Field Of Gold just failed to reel in Ruling Court at Newmarket, but bounced back to winning ways with aplomb as he romped to victory at the Curragh a few weeks ago. John & Thady Gosden’s dashing grey is a warm order to down Ruling Court on this occasion and Charlie Appleby’s star colt is set to head to Ascot now having been ruled out of last weekend’s Derby due to the soft ground.
All set to step up to a mile-and-a-half for the Derby, Ruling Court was taken out in the hours leading up to the Epsom Classic and is now set to stay over a mile and look to get the better of Field Of Gold once again and the pair are set to serve up one of the most exciting clashes of the entire week.
Aidan O’Brien has a stunning record in this contest and having trained the winner on nine different occasions and the master of Ballydoyle could unleash the recent French Guineas winner Henri Matisse, who got the better of Jonquil at Longchamp a month ago and the former will take his chance in this Group 1 contest.
