GG Writers – Our Top Tips for Saturday at Glorious Goodwood

Our team at GG have taken a look at the final day of Glorious Goodwood and picked out their best bet, alongside Kwiff’s latest offer where new customers can claim £20 In Free Bets when placing a £10 bet on Goodwood this week.

Daryl Carter – Ajero, Federation Of Bloodstock Agents Handicap

AJERO broke my heart at Ascot, but his jockey did far too much too soon, and this is much, much easier, and Jim Crowley has been booked for this drop in grade into a Class 3 race. He did best of those on the scorching pace at Ascot, and the form has been advertised well by the third going close at Newmarket next time, the fourth going close at York and here at Goodwood this week. He makes plenty of appeal with his form working out extremely strongly (Sandown second winner now rated 114), so a 2lbs rise should not hinder his chances from a good draw in stall four with a couple of confirmed front runners likely to give him a good lead. His time is now!

Andrew Mount –  The Lamplighter, Coral Stewards’ Sprint Handicap

On GG’s Weekend Watch podcast/video I nailed my colours to the progressive Lethal Levi, the 7-4 favourite, and he’s obviously the most likely winner. However, Lethal Levi faces competition for the early lead from Digital and Abate and there’s just a chance they could set it up for a low-drawn closer (yesterday’s King George Qatar Stakes suggests they’ll go far side from the outset). Dream Composer has possibilities, but the each-way bet has to be course expert THE LAMPLIGHTER. He’s a tricky customer who needs to be presented on the line, but he should be 8-1, not the 12-1 to 16-1 available at the time of writing. His course and distance record reads 4123101025 (3-10), improving to 41231125 (3-8) on good to soft or quicker going. Two of those defeats came by just a nose. Back him each-way and by all means have a forecast on him to finish second to the favourite.

Joe Eccles – Regional, Stewards’ Cup

I can’t help but think that REGIONAL represents cracking value in the Stewards’ Cup. Runner-up in the valuable Dukhan Sprint over in Qatar earlier this year, he finished just 2l off the enterprisingly-ridden Taxiwala there, who has since finished sixth in the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint. He challenged from a disadvantageous track position at Epsom on British return, before catching the eye when second at Doncaster earlier this month, looking a sure-fire improver for this return to 6f. He comes into this 3lb well in on his revised mark, whilst connections clearly rate his chances highly as they’ve snapped up Ryan Moore for the ride. Likely to be ridden cold, he retains scope for improvement in a race in which we know plenty about most of the runners.

Jordan Arksey– Cemhaan, Coral Summer Handicap

I’ve already advised an ante-post bet on Regional in the Coral Stewards’ Cup on Saturday afternoon at 20/1 but it would certainly be nice to land a bet on the Godowood card before Ed Bethell’s sprinter runs at 15:20. Although it looks fiercely competitive, I like the claims of George Baker’s CEMHAAN in the Coral Summer Handicap at 14:10. A two-time winner this year, the five-year-old defeated three subsequent winners in the first of those victories at Salisbury back in April before accounting for both Soapy Stevens and Valley Forge in a valuable handicap at Newmarket the following month. Down the field in the Duke Of Edinburgh Stakes at Royal Ascot when last seen, George Baker’s gelding was far from disgraced when meeting plenty of trouble in running entering the final couple of furlongs and ultimately crossed the line with plenty left in the tank. The step back up in trip will be of no issue this weekend and George Baker’s five-year-old is a fair price at around 7/1.

Rob Plumbridge – Lethal Levi

Karl Burke is a master with two-year-old sprinters and he looks to have a really strong chance here with LETHAL LEVI. He’s going for a hat-trick of wins after making all at Newmarket, keeping on strongly over this distance to win by 2 lengths. This doesn’t look too tough – none of his rivals boast any significant recent form. He, however, looks very much on the upgrade and rates as a top chance to get on the winner’s board on what looks a tricky card. He missed out on the Stewards’ Cup and can gain compensation here.
