Top tipster Andrew Mount found 100-30 winner Hi Ho Silver (2pts win) at Yarmouth yesterday and has five bets on Friday
CHARLIE DE RIO – (2.55 York, 1.5pt win - 5/1)
Adrian Nicholls has a fine record in sellers, scoring with nine of his 19 runners in this grade for a profit of £51.40 to a £1 level stake at SP. He’s four from four with those making their debut for the yard and CHARLIE DE RIO, ex-Denis Hogan, may be able to maintain the sequence here.
The yard had a 33-1 stable switcher just touched off at Hamilton in handicap company on Wednesday and he’s worth chancing despite a slight question mark over stall 20 of 20.
GALE FORCE MAYA – (3.30 York, 1pt win - 9/2)
Low draws dominated in the Listed Maggie Dickson Stakes at Musselburgh last Saturday, with the first three drawn 2, 1 and 3 of 11 for a £1,203 Trifecta.
GALE FORCE MAYA was the late market mover in that race despite being stuck out wide in stall 10 and can be forgiven her ninth-place finish, as she was taken on for the lead and could never get to the rail. The drop back to 6f won’t hurt.
OH SO NICE – (3.45 Chepstow, 1pt win - 14/1)
OH SO NICE had little chance from her low draw here last week on a day the stands’ side ‘golden highway’ was fully operational. She was still in front down the centre a furlong out but was swamped by those drawn higher, finishing just over three lengths behind the winner in eighth of 13.
She’s a 12-race maiden but the smaller field will suit and she’s drawn near the rail this time.
MIDNIGHT FIRE – (4.55 Fairyhouse, 1pt each-way - 15/2)
There was a massive high draw bias on the straight course (5f-7f) at Cork’s meeting on May 7, with the winners drawn 9 of 11, 13 of 16, 8 of 8, 19 of 20 and 5 of 17. MIDNIGHT FIRE (stall 6 of 20) ran a huge race to finish fourth in the valuable 7f Mallow Handicap, beating the next finisher on the far side by three lengths.
He was backed from 14-1 into 9-1, despite the draw bias being obvious by that point. He was on the receiving end of another huge bias at the Curragh next time, this time doing best of the centre group when fourth of 22 in a 5.5f handicap. The trip was on the short side and he looks better berthed today.
DREAM TODAY - (4:55 Fairyhouse, 0.5pts each-way - 10/1)
I’ve saved on DREAM TODAY, who was also poorly drawn in that Curragh race. He’s had a run since, finishing a close-up sixth against the pace bias at Gowan Park and will hopefully encounter a stronger gallop today.
