Top tipster Andrew Mount struck the crossbar with two close seconds on Sunday and has two more selections on Monday
Yesterday, I mentioned the poor record of Lethal Force with his progeny at Wolverhampton and another one, Red Force One, was beaten at a short price. The sire is now with just five winners from 116 runners on the Tapeta surface here for a loss of £83.01 to a £1 level stake at SP. Today, we get the chance to oppose another one in the shape of 7-2 third favourite Buy Me Back in the 6f Betway Novice Median Auction Stakes (5.30). She was turned over at odds of 4-6 here last time and has changed yards since that run. I was tempted to oppose her with Dancing Feet, who showed plenty of promise in a Doncaster fillies’ maiden for David O’Meara last summer. She did second best of the closers that day and the form has been boosted by the patiently-ridden third who went on to win two nurseries. However, she changed hands for just 3,000gns in December and looks short enough in the betting at around 11-8 on her debut for Archie Watson. The best alternative could be VENTURA RASCAL, who clocked a respectable time when a 33-1 sixth at Newcastle on his debut. The first three home that day are now rated 89, 73 and 79 and he won’t have to improve much to take a hand.
There should be a strong pace in the 6f Betway Heed Your Hunch Handicap (7.00) and it looks a good opportunity for CONCIERGE to record a first win for his current yard. He caught the eye at Newcastle when a close-up 14-1 third in early January, doing best of those to race up with the pace into the headwind. He followed that with a solid Chelmsford second from a poor draw and ran another good race when third to odds-on course expert Treacherous at Kempton last time. Silvestre De Sousa rides for the first time and there are doubts about a couple of his main market rivals at this trip – Street Parade, who seems best at 5f, and Reeves who seems happiest at 7f.
