Defi Du SeuilTop tipster Andrew Mount found Blame The Game (2pts at 4-1 advised) from two bets at Fontwell on Sunday and has two more selections at Wolverhampton on Monday

ELIXSOFT (4.20 Wolverhampton, 1pt win 13/2)

The inside rail has been riding slow at recent Wolverhampton meeting, with stall 1 providing just five handicap winners (from 95 races) this year for a loss of £39.67 to a £1 level stake at SP (the expecting number of wins was closer to 11.

Those ridden patiently from stall 1 are 0-39 and that suggests we should oppose current 100-30 market leader Dragons Will Rise in the opener, a habitual hold-up horse drawn in stall 1 of 8. More interesting is ELIXSOFT, two from two at this venue. Both wins came over shorter (7f/8.6f) but she’s shown form over a stiff 1m2f at Newcastle and should cope with tonight’s 9.4f trip. She ran well at Southwell last time, a venue where she’s 0-8, finishing a close-up third in a race that has already been franked by sixth-placed Gulland Rock. Both course wins were preceded by a Fibresand defeat.

I was originally going to side with RUBY GATES but the 8-1 soon became 9-2 and I’ll have no more than a stake saver at that sort of price.

SUMMERGHAND (5.50 Wolverhampton, 1pt win 8/1)

This 6f Class 2 handicap looks a fantastic race and it could be worth taking on those at the head of the betting. 5-2 favourite Huraiz may be vulnerable from stall 1 and is 0-6 when racing on turning tracks. He also faces competition for the lead from Fizzy Feet – not as good here as at Lingfield – and Major Jumbo.

I was tempted by the latter at 14-1, as he has a good record on his seasonal debut and has clocked three wins and two seconds from five all-weather outings. However, I’m taking a chance on Summerghand despite the question mark of over the form of the David O’Meara yard.

The trainer had a dry January (0-32) but February was slightly better, with one winner from 22 runners and an expected win rate of just 1.53. Summerghand was only seventh in Listed company at Lingfield on his return to action last month but an awkward start did for him in a race not run to suit the closers.

He does most of his racing in big-field handicaps on straight courses but has a fine record on turning tracks, scoring at Pontefract last summer and clocking all-weather figures around at least one bend of 12117 (3-5), improving to 1211 (3-4) below Class 1 level, with the defeat by a head. The likely strong pace will suit and he looks over-priced.
