Top tipster Andrew Mount has four best for Saturday, including one at a huge price in the Betfair Hurdle
CLICK AND COLLECT (1.22 Uttoxeter)
CLICK AND COLLECT very much caught the eye at Uttoxeter on his debut for Jennie Candlish in December, making minor late headway into a 31-length 100-1 fourth. That was also his first start following wind surgery and he built on that with a 12-length 40-1 fifth at Market Rasen last time, doing second best of those to come from off the pace. Connections have decided to take in the Best Odds Guaranteed At MansionBet Maiden Hurdle at Uttoxeter (1.22), rather than go down the handicap road, and this looks an ideal opportunity. His handler has done well with her runners that had wind surgery - Big Timer Dancer won at 12-1 and 16-1 on his fourth and fifth starts following the procedure, Arthur’s Reuben won on his first start following a wind op and Stop Talking scored on his third, fourth, fifth and seventh outings after surgery. The only two horses who had wind surgery for Candlish and didn’t win for her – Sunshineandbubbles and Mankala – were both winning for new trainers not long after, the former at 8-1 on her debut for David Evans and the latter scored three times in point-to-points.
DOLPHIN SQUARE was left with too much to do when fourth of 18 in a Class 2 handicap hurdle over three miles at Newbury om his penultimate start and did well to finish so close. The winner (‘made all’), runner-up (‘in touch’) and third (‘pressed winner virtually throughout’) all sat much closer to the pace whereas he was described as ‘held up towards rear’. He made amends with a Ludlow win next time out and won’t be inconvenienced by the quicker going when he returns to Newbury for the Betfair Bet-In-Play Handicap Hurdle (1.50). ANY TIME WILL DO, second best of the closers when fifth in the same course and distance race as Dolphin Square on his penultimate run, will also appreciate the quicker going and is worth a saver.
MAGIC DANCER (3.35 Newbury)
MAGIC DANCER perhaps doesn’t win as often as he should but he has a good record in big fields an is worth a small each-way interest in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury (3.35). Kerry Lee’s eight-year-old went close at Huntingdon last time, a run that took his hurdles record in fields of 11 or more runners to 2329217125232 (2-13). His biggest Starting Price in 23 runs over hurdles was 20-1 (when runner-up to Al Dancer in this race 12 months ago) and he doesn’t deserve to be as big as 40-1. He races off just a 3lb higher mark this year and his yard had a 25-1 winner earlier this week.
