Top tipster Andrew Mount found Dream Today (8-1 from 10-1 on Friday) and goes to war with five selections on Saturday
SAMEEM – (2.00 York, 1pt win - 6/1
SAMEEM didn’t make the running as hoped when we had a speculative interest at Ripon last time, allowing short-priced stablemate Fishable to make all. That was his second run for the yard and the overnight support suggest today’s race was the plan all along.
The small field and much quicker ground will suit – his record in fields of nine or less, on good to soft or quicker going reads 1173216 (3-7) – and he could be in receipt of an easy lead here.
BRIAN THE SNAIL - (2.10 Chester, 1pt each-way - 12/1)
BRIAN THE SNAIL drops to Class 4 level for the first time since winning off this mark at Newcastle last June and his full record in this grade or lower reads 11131 (4-5), with the defeat by half a length at Ripon when the front-runners never cane back and he couldn’t get land a blow.
He’s well drawn, will have the strong pace that suits and should go close at least granted a clear passage.
GODHEAD – (2.25 Limerick, 1pt win - 5/1)
GODHEAD was a little unlucky when we bet him at Listowel last Saturday where he was again on the receiving end of a strong bias. It was hard to make up ground from off the pace, especially for those drawn high, and he could only keep on into a three-length sixth of 12 behind all-the-way winner Galtee Mist who followed up under a penalty at Gowran Park two days later.
Poorly drawn when 18th in the Verhoyen Curragh race the time before (Dream Today was 14th in the same race before winning yesterday), stall 2 could be helpful today and he’s well in at the weights in this rated stakes.
BRINGITONBORIS – (4.50 York, 1pt each-way - 14/1)
BRINGITONBORIS overcame a slow start to grab a place at 22-1 in the 18-runner 7f handicap won impressively by Boardman at this venue on May 14 and the winner has gone in again since. Small fields were no help the next twice, as he needs a strong pace to chase.
His turf record in fields of 12 or more runners, without headgear, now reads 4th of 12 (25-1), 1st (20-1) and 4th of 18 (22-1) and today’s 1m1f trip in a field of 15 runners looks ideal.
MR WAGYU – (5.25 York, 1pt each-way - 8/1)
MR WAGYU thrives at this time of year, landing ten of his 19 starts in June/July for a profit of £29.85 to a £1 level stake at SP. When returned to the track within seven days of his previous run, his June/July record becomes 1111 (4-4). He’s won for us at Hamilton and Pontefract already this month and I’m not going to desert him here.
