Top tipster Andrew Mount was among the winners again on Friday and has five selections for Saturday’s racing
CHINDIT – 1.50 Doncaster
CHINDIT ran a huge race here on his debut, winning well on the front end despite getting no cover from the headwind. He followed up with a similarlry smooth Ascot Listed success from Cobh, who went one better next time. He has enormous potential and can complete his hat-trick in this Group 2 contest.
WEDDING DATE - 2.25 Doncaster
WEDDING DATE rarely runs a bad race when she’s had a recent outing (within three weeks), recording form figures of 156121601333022682 (4-18) for a profit of £22.00 to a £1 level stake. If we only look at her runs shy of 6f and away from Ascot, her record improves to 15621133 (3-8). She finished fourth in her group when a 33-1 eighth of 27 in the Stewards’ Cup, just struggling to see out the 6f trip again. This in-between trip of 5f143 yards could be right up her street and her middle draw looks useful on yesterday’s evidence. Justanotherbottle qualifies on the Kevin Ryan/Kevin Stott first-time cheekpieces in handicaps angle and also has possibilities, as does 2018 winner A Momentofmadness who was unlucky to bump into a very well handicapped Oxted when runner-up last year.
BE MORE – 2.40 Chester
BE MORE (stall 7 of 7) is drawn widest of all but I can’t let her go unbacked, as the market has over-reacted to her last-time out Goodwood defeat. She struggles to run good races back to back and her record following a defeat reads 21111 (4-5), with the second place by a neck. Her trainer was in winning form here yesterday and she won on her sole previous visit to this venue.
CATHERINE’S GIRL – 3.30 Musselburgh
CATHERINE’S GIRL, ridden patiently when well held in maiden/novice company, took a step forward on her nursery debut when a 22-1 fifth in first-time cheekpieces at Catterick. She raced closer to the early pace but her low draw was no help and she raced on the slowest part of the track, never getting anywhere near the favoured nearside rail. Beverages had the run of the race from his high draw that day, finishing two places in front of her, and she shouldn’t be more than six times the price of that rival, especially as she could be better suited by the drop to 5f.
SPIRIT OF MAY – 4.20 Chester
SPIRIT OF MAY has a great record on turning-tracks over 5f-6f, recording figures of 2931111 (4-7), improving to 1111 (4-4) since gelded. Newmarket and Windsor wouldn’t have suited when he was sixth and eighth in his two previous runs this term and he finally returns to a left-handed venue here. The obvious downside is stall 10 but he has bags of early speed and it might only be Bossipop (stall 4) who beats him to the rail. His previous wins have come from stalls 9 of 9, 9 of 13, 1 of 9 and 8 of 11 and if he breaks as quickly as he can do, he could even be first to the rail, which makes the early 33-1 look insulting.
