Andrew-Mount-Trend HorsesOur top tipster has a huge number of stats at his disposal and has highlighted the horses it should pay to follow in Britain today

Too green to do herself justice when third of five at Haydock on her debut last October, Kevin Ryan’s LAST EMPIRE has looked a different horse this year, comfortably landing a pair of 6f Hamilton novice contests before a hugely impressive handicap success over the same trip at Haydock. She can continue her progression by taking the Listed EBF Stallions Highfield Farm Flying Fillies; Stakes at Pontefract (3.30) where she looks well drawn in stall two of 11.

In the same race I want to save on Last Empire’s stablemate PRINCE DES SABLES. She was well beaten on her first two starts this season but bounced back to form with a wide-margin Haydock handicap on fast ground last time. Conditions will be much softer today but she won three times on ground described as ‘good to soft’ or ‘soft’ in 2018 and it’s the time of year that’s form important to her. Her full record in August or September now reads 111115 (5-5).

MAGICAL EFFECT (5.00 Pontefract)

Ruth Carr does well with handicap top weights, especially over the shorter trips, scoring with 40 of the 253 qualifiers over 5f-1m since 2012 (15.8% strike-rate) for a profit of £55.03 to a £1 level stake at SP. MAGICAL EFFECT (stall two of nine) tends to go well at this time of year – three of his four wins have come in July or August – and he looks the answer to division one of the 6f Nova Display Handicap (5.00). He was stuck out wide in stall 11 of 12 when a one-length third over course and distance last time (winner drawn in stall two) and is better berthed this time around.

Last Empire – 3.30 Pontefract (1pt win, 13-2 generally)

Prince Des Sables – 3.30 Pontefract (0.5pt, each-way, 8-1 Bet365)

Magical Effect – 5.00 Pontefract (1.5pts win, 3-1 Bet365)
