GoodwoodTop tipster Andrew Mount struck with Treacherous on Saturday (7-1 from 8-1) and has four selections across three races on Sunday

Mark Johnston has a very modest record when using first-time cheekpieces, suggesting that Lion Tower (the 3-1 favourite with William Hill when the betting opened yesterday) could be value to oppose. Since 2015, his record with this headgear is just five winners from 104 runners (4.8% strike-rate) for a loss of £82.00 to a £1 level stake at SP. Of far more interest is TOMMY ROCK for the Clive Cox yard. He won at Wolverhampton three runs back and can be forgiven two subsequent defeats at Kempton where his sire, Society Rock, has a shocking record in handicap company (1-87, -£85.33). He hasn’t had many opportunities on turf and the first-time tongue-tie could eke out some improvement.

MISS VILANELLE finished last of 12 at Kempton on her comeback but that run was probably needed and she’s yet to show much on the all-weather. Her two runs over a straight 7f – conditions she faces today, resulted in a 14-1 Newbury win, despite making the running into the headwind, and a 6-1 Newmarket fourth when doing best of the group to race down the centre of the track. Her trainer is in good form and she’s well drawn in the middle.

OCEANS MEET – 4.00 Newcastle

The Crisford-trained OCEANS MEET is unraced but her breeding suggests that Newcastle’s Tapeta surface will prove ideal and she’s worth chancing for her in-form yard. Progeny of Sea The Stars have a phenomenal record here, winning 21 of their 51 starts (41.2% strike-rate) for a profit of £63.07 to a £1 level stake at SP. Those making their debuts in today’s Class 5 grade recorded figures of 11315 (3-5), with the wins at 16-1, 6-4 and 4-9.

BYLINE – 4.10 Leicester

BYLINE could only finish tenth of 17 at Newmarket last time but that was in a valuable Class 2 handicap and he was poorly drawn towards the far side, doing third best in his group. He was only one place behind the similarly badly-berthed Meraas who won next time out before running a fine sixth in the Stewards’ Cup yesterday. He drops to Class 3 level here and has cheekpieces on for the first time. Kevin Stott has a 7-26 record (26.9% strike-rate) when riding a first-time cheekpieced runner for Kevin Ryan and backing them all would have returned a profit of £49.50 to a £1 level stake at SP.
