Top tipster Andrew Mount has been in good form so far this month and has four selections across three races on day one of the Aintree festival Check out his selections below, along with a pair of excellent sign-up offers for new customers looking to give their funds a timely boost in time for Grand National weekend.
CLONDAW CASTLE – (2.50 Aintree, 2pts win - 8/1)
CLONDAW CASTLE tends to come good in the second half of the peak jumps season, winning six of his 12 starts from January until April for a profit of £14.83 to a £1 level stake at SP, including a three from three haul in February. His stable remains in great form and he won well at Kempton last time on his first start over three miles since his point-to-point days. HIs good-ground chase record, including his point-to-point form, reads 11411 (4-5), with the defeat over an inadequate 2m trip in Grade 1 company at this meeting two years ago.
BREWIN’UPASTORM – (3.25 Aintree, 2pts win - 11/2)
BREWIN’UPASTORM won his first two starts over fences but his jumping let him down when upped in grade and he’s looked much happier over hurdles the last twice, bolting up in handicap company at Taunton and accounting for odds-on favourite McFabulous by five and a held lengths in a Grade 2 at Fontwell. He finished second in a Grade 1 novices’ hurdle over course and distance in 2019 and jockey Aidan Coleman said ‘I still think there’s improvement’ after his latest success.
THE KING OF MAY – (4.40 Aintree, 1pt win and 0.5pt place - 20/1
THE KING OF MAY has only had two runs over fences on ground quicker than soft, winning at Carlisle and finding only one too good when 11-1 at Newbury. He was only three-quarters of a length behind subsequent Grade 1 winner First Flow when third on heavy ground in the Castleford Chase and looks set to improve for a big field/strong scenario.
SAO – (4.40 Aintree, 1pt wi, 0.5pt place - 22/1)
SAO needed the run when fourth at Hexham in October on his debut for Rebecca Menzies but has since record form figures of F1151 (3-5), with the fifth place excusable as his forcing style was totally unsuited to Newcastle Tapeta surface in a jumpers’ bumper. He could still be ahead of the handicapper and will also appreciate the likely very strong gallop.
