carlisleTop tipster Andrew Mount has three bets at Wincanton, Lingfield and Kempton on Wednesday

BALKO SAINT – (1.30 Wincanton, 2pts win - 7/4)

BALKO SAINT went into the tracker after his beaten-favourite effort at Fontwell in October, racing closer to the inside rail (where the ground was softer) than the majority of his rivals. He ran well in a Grade 2 hurdle at Cheltenham next time when an each-way bet in this column, finishing an 18-1 third of eight and doing best of those to race up with the strong early pace. Fourth-placed Cabot Cliffs, our other bet in that race, made the running that day and is two from two since. Balko Saint looks to have been found a very winnable opportunity and is favourite in my tissue.

PROPOGATION – (3.55 Lingfield, 1pt win - 3/1)

At first glance I thought I’d be tipping Rosemary And Thyme here but she was expensive to follow last year and, being by Camelot, I’m not rushing to back her over this 6f trip. River Wharfe was another potential bet now that he’s left David Simcock but switchers from that yard, contrary to popular belief, don’t have the greatest record at the first time of asking for new connections. PROPOGATION, on the other hand, looks more interesting. He found 5f too sharp when beaten by just over two lengths into seventh here on his return from a three-month break in January. The Charles Hills yard has been in fantastic form with their sprinters recording figures of 311501361 (4-9) in the past fortnight, improving to 11011 (4-5) in sprints only. The yard also has a 15 from 71 record with handicap debutants on the all-weather in the past five years (21.1% strike-rate) for a profit of £23.38 to a £1 level stake at SP. In sprints only, the strike-rate improves to 36.4% (eight from 22) for a profit of £30.13.

EVASIVE POWER – (7.20 Kempton, 1pt win - 7/2)

EVASIVE POWER unleashed an impressive turn of foot in re-applied cheekpieces to land a 7f handicap off a steady pace here last week and, though he’s gone up 7lb for that victory, he still looks well handicapped on his old Irish form. Robyn Brisland does well with runners making a quick return to action and his latest 6f outing on the all-weather saw him beaten by a neck at Wolverhampton off a 1lb higher mark than today’s. When bringing one back withing seven days of a previous run, his trainer is 18 from 73 (24.7% strike-rate) for a profit of £25.35 to a £1 level stake at SP>
