2.45 Fakenham – PRETENDING (1pt win – 7/1 generally)
The Lucy Wadham-trained PRETENDING was beaten by 37 lengths into fifth place at Southwell last time but the fixed brush style hurdles at that venue don’t suit every horse, the cut back to 2m was against her and she ended up challenging closer to the inside rail than ideal (she raced wide in the early stages, but not as wide as those who fought out the finish). That was a Class 2 contest, as was Wodhooh’s Cheltenham race in which she could only finish eighth (albeit not beaten by bar) on her penultimate start and she drops back down to Class 3 level today at a track where her in-form handler excels. This century, Lucy Wadham has a 70 from 270 record at Fakenham (25.9% strike-rate) for a profit of £60.25 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 54.00, A/E = 1.30). The six-year-old returns to Class 3 level for the first time since her close-up 11-1 second (13 lengths clear of the third) at Newbury last spring and she could be in receipt of an easy lead.
