2.00 Aintree – DO YOUR JOB (1pt win – 15/2 Paddy Power, 6/1 generally)
DO YOUR JOB has form figures (including his point-to-point run) from late February to early November of tel:1211221116 (6-10), compared to 524F255 (0-7) outside of that period. He didn’t show much in two runs after wind surgery last winter but he’s one of the horses that Michael Scudamore has taken with him to Lucinda Russell’s yard (where he’s now employed as an assistant trainer) and one of those has already won at 16-1 at the first time of asking for the new setup. Do our Job had another wind operation over the summer and nine-year-old progeny of Fame And Glory, the sire’s oldest crop, are 11 from 67 over jumps for a profit of £73.63, suggesting that there could still be some improvement to come.
3.10 Aintree – CRAMBO (1pt win – 5/2 Bet365, 9/4 generally)
CRAMBO wasn’t disgraced in Grade 1 company at Aintree on his final start last term, finishing a 20-1 seventh of 14 after meeting with trouble. His earlier success in the EBF Final at Sandown took his record below Grade 1 level to 11111 (5-5) and though arguably flattered by racing on the front end that day, a mark of 133 could still underestimate him and he’s worth a small interest in this Class 2 handicap hurdle.
