Top tipster Andrew Mount has three bets at Sandown, Newbury and Doncaster on Thursday. Check out his thoughts below on his trio of selections, alongside a new customer offer from Matchbook, which is offering Money Back as a Free Bet up to £30 if your first bet loses.
STREET PARADE – Sandown 1.15pm (1.5pts each-way – 12/1 Paddy, 11/1 Sky Bet – 4 places)
Plenty of these like to race up with the pace and it will be surprising if the winner doesn’t come from midfield or further back. STREET PARADE is 6lb lower than when landing this race 12 months ago, despite having won since (at Brighton on his penultimate start).
He was only fifth at Bath last time but ducking up the inside to challenge probably wasn’t ideal (the race developed out wide) and the only slight concern is that all his wins have come in fields of eight or fewer runners (11 are due to go to post). He takes a few runs to come to hand and often peaks at this time of year. His record in June/July reads 211720000938115 (4-15) for a profit of £7.55.
PUFFABLE – Newbury 7.38pm (1pt win – 6/4 Paddy Power, Betfair)
Ralph Beckett does well with his juvenile runners having their second start in handicap company, scoring with 17 of the 58 qualifiers since 2013 (29.3% strike-rate) for a profit of £44.08 to a £1 level stake at SP. PUFFABLE has gone up 8lb for an easy win at Brighton last time but clocked a good time according to Proform’s speed figures and can follow up.
RAYDOUN – Doncaster 8.55pm (1pt win – 7/1 bet365, 6/1 generally)
RAYDOUN failed to cope with the cut back to 5f when only sixth of seven at Hamilton last week and was also poorly drawn. Roger Fell has a good record in turf handicaps when bringing one back to the track quickly (one to seven days ago), scoring with 49 of the 271 qualifiers (18.1% strike-rate) for a tiny profit of £4.15 (expected winners only 37.3).
Backing those same horses at the best evening price the day before racing would have produced a profit of £94.23. In Class 4 or 5 company only – tonight’s race is a Class 4 handicap – they’re 40 from 151 (26.5%) for a profit of £72.03 at SP (+£150.48 at evening before price). Both of Raydoun’s wins have come after recent runs (16 and 11 days), including one over course and distance on fast ground.
