Charlie & Mark Johnston’s previous three-year-old runners in Hamilton’s Almada Mile Handicap have recorded form figures of 5211 (2-4) and AUSTRIAN THEORY could be worth chancing in this year’s renewal. He did too much too soon when last of six at Nottingham on his most recent outing and the one who took him on for the lead that day – fifth-placed Dubai Icon – won next time out. The danger is he’ll go too hard again from his outside draw but he’s too big a price to ignore.
6.50 Stratford – Atlantic Storm (2pts win, 9-4 William Hill, BetVictor)
Course expert ATLANTIC STORM was denied victory by a slipped saddle when a big win bet for this column in May – finishing second to Larch Hill – and has since won easily at Southwell. He’s been shoved up 5lb for that win but is still 4lb lower than when winning over trip and track last spring and can gain his revenge on Larch Hill this time.
