2.35 Market Rasen – FORTESCUE (1pt e/w, 6/1 Ladbrokes, Coral, three places, 5/1 Sky Bet, four places)
Henry Daly’s FORTESCUE has a good record in fields of nine or fewer runners, recording form figures of 3121121131427222 (6-17) for a profit of £27.50 to a £1 level stake at SP. He made the frame in ten of the 11 defeats, and he looks the proverbial each-way betting to nothing. His trainer does well with his chasers at Market Rasen, scoring with ten of his 29 runners since the beginning of 2013 for a profit of £22.13.
I’ve saved on last year’s winner (when the race was run at Warwick) SAM BROWN, who has won his last three chases over 2m7f+ in Class 2 or lower company and will also play the pair in exotic bets.

6.00 Southwell – TOPTIME (1pt win – 9/2 bet365)
TOPTIME’s all-weather record in Class 6 company when returned to the track within eight weeks of his previous start reads 1214421251 (4-10) for a profit of £17.50 to a £1 level stake at SP, including 1-1 when dropping in class. Roy Bowring’s seven-year-old did too much too soon when a weak-in-the-betting fifth of ten over 6f here in Class 4 company last time and is best judged on his easy Class 6 course and distance success the time before. He’s back at basement level tonight, returns to his optimum 5f trip and could be in receipt of an easy lead.

Andrew Mount’s Cheltenham Focus – Spotlight on Stayers’ Hurdle
Having looked at a handicap in my latest Cheltenham column, I’m keeping it simple this week and turning my attention to the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle. I can make an educated guess as to who is likely to turn up for this three-mile Grade 1 contest and by using stats/trends and horse profiling I’m hoping…
