YANIFER has been off the track since beating only one home at Haydock in late September but is capable of running well when fresh and looks worth chancing. As usual at Chester, the draw has been extremely helpful when it comes to finding the winner of this 7.5f handicap, with nine of the last ten winners drawn in stall 5 or lower. Backing all 50 qualifiers would have returned a profit of £19.50 to a £1 level stake at SP. The exception came in last year’s renewal when the well backed Percy’s Lad broke smartly from stall 13 of 13 and made all. Supporting all runners drawn in stall 6 or higher would have found just one winner from 60 bets for a loss of £56.00. Harriet Bethell’s seven-year-old looks well berthed in stall 5 and has a useful record on sharp left-handed tracks, with a combined record at Chester, Catterick and Bath of 11821315 (4-8) for a profit of £14.63 to a £1 level stake at SP.
3.05 Chester – DIVINE COMEDY (0.5pt e/w – 12/1 generally)
DIVINE COMEDY caught the eye when chasing home Al Qareem in Listed company at Nottingham on her return to action before her respectable front-running third of four in a Group 3 at Ascot. Harry Eustace’s mare will appreciate the ease in grade today and her full record in handicap company reads 6461321311313312580 (6-19) for a profit of £7.06. In the month of May only that improves 1111 (4-4) for a profit of £10.06 and she should go well from a reasonable draw in stall 7.
6.05 Hereford – MUSIQUE DE FEE (1.5pt win – Evens bet365)
MUSIQUE DE FEE has a great record in the spring and was unlucky to bump into the progressive Coconut Twist when going down by 1.75L in second place at Newton Abbot last month, the pair pulling 18L clear of the third. His record from March to May now reads 4143112 (3-7) for a profit of £24.00 to a £1 level stake at SP and he can go one better this evening.
