3.45 Plumpton – SO SAID I (1pt win – 8/1 William Hill)
The Joe Tizzard-trained SO SAID I needs to prove her stamina for today’s 3m5f trip but the nine-year-old looks worth chancing in the re-arranged Sussex National. She usually goes well in the depths of winter, winning four of her 14 starts in the November to February period, including form figures of 11713 (3-5) when she’s had a least three runs in the past three months (as she has here). Her latest third to Telepathique in the mares’ final at Fakenham was a solid effort – she weakened on the run-in having made up her ground too quickly to try and serve it up to the impressive winner who has scored again since – and her trainer is 12 from 36 in chases at Plumpton since taking over the licence for a profit of £30.41 to a £1 level stake at SP (expected winners = 6.81, A/E = 1.76).

5.30 Wolverhampton – BURABACK (0.5pt e/w – 14/1 bet365, 12/1 generally)
BURABACK could only finish fifth over course and distance last Monday, but he was the stable second string behind our pick in the race Gustav Graves (4-1), who finished a narrow second. That run came after a break of 16 days, which was longer than ideal. Derek Shaw’s six-year-old has a fantastic record in sprints when returned to the track within seven days of his previous outing, recording form figures of 21110611 (5-8) for a profit of £15.33 to a £1 level stake at SP. At Wolverhampton only when drawn in stall 9 or lower, his record is 1111 (4-4) and he has stall 7 today. Throw in the likelihood of a strong gallop and this hold-up performer looks worth a punt double-figure odds.
