10.15 Lingfield – UPEPO (1pt win, 16/1 bet365, betVictor, 14/1 generally)
UPEPO has a fine record on Lingfield’s Polytrack, recording form figures of 11131 (4-5), with excuses for the defeat (it came in the Certain Style hands and heels apprentice handicap when the other jockeys ignored the 28-1 winner, allowing him to coast home unchallenged by 22 lengths). His course wins came over 1m4f-1m5f but this 2m trip could actually bring about improvement and he looks over-priced based on his course record.

2.15 Ascot – MARTATOR (1pt win – 4/1 bet365, betVictor, Coral)
MARTATOR could only finish a 10.5-length third of seven when 2-1 favourite for a Grade 2 limited handicap chase at Kempton last time but drops in grade and, more importantly, returns to his beloved Ascot where his record reads 111 (3-3). Those three wins came over the 2m1f trip but he’s twice a winner over 2m4f and today’s 2m5f distance is unlikely to pose problems.
2.30 Haydock – ROYALE PAGAILLE (1.5pt win – 9/4 generally)
ROYALE PAGAILLE, racing’s number one Bristol De Mai impersonator, took his record at Haydock to 112111 (5-6) when getting the better of Grey Dawning by two lengths in a titanic battle for the Betfair Chase eight weeks ago. The 11-year-old won this race under big weights in 2021 and in 2022 and can get the hat-trick up.
2.50 Ascot – KAMSINAS (1.5pt win – 9/1 generally)
KAMSINAS has displayed the ‘OXO’ pattern in his form figures (bad run, good run, bad run etc) and his latest Haydock fourth took his record immediately following a win to zero from six. He has form figures of 111011 (5-6) on his first run following a defeat, with the ‘duck egg’ in the Betfair Hurdle when always struggling to get involved after an early jumping error. The drying ground will suit, as well the likely strong pace which stablemate STONER’S CHOICE looks set to contribute to.

Andrew Mount’s Cheltenham Focus – Spotlight on Stayers’ Hurdle
Having looked at a handicap in my latest Cheltenham column, I’m keeping it simple this week and turning my attention to the Paddy Power Stayers’ Hurdle. I can make an educated guess as to who is likely to turn up for this three-mile Grade 1 contest and by using stats/trends and horse profiling I’m hoping…
