SHABU SHABU was very well backed (2-1f) when runner-up at Leicester last time on his first start since a gelding operation and that run, though disappointing for those who bet him to win, was worthy of an upgrade as he was always trapped wide from stall 11 of 12 (non-runner adjusted) when it paid to race on the inside rail (first six drawn 3, 11, 4, 5, 2 and 1). His one and a quarter length defeat was a useful effort in the circumstances, and he can recoup losses today.
3.30 Ffos Las – THE HARE RAIL (1pt win – 6/1 bet365)
The HARE RAIL has a 0-7 record, but Roger Teal’s gelding did well to run third over the straight 7f at Lingfield last time after racing well away from the favoured stands’ side rail from his stall 2 of 10 draw (non-runner adjusted). Leadenhall Street, eighth from stall 3 in that race, has won since while Elizabath Bay, ninth from stall 5, gave the form a further boost when beaten by just half a length when a 16-1 third at Chelmsford next time.
