3.20 Carlisle – RED HAPPY (1pt win – 15/2 William Hill)
RED HAPPY’s wins tend to be clustered – he completed a hat-trick in spring 2022 for David Pipe, won three times in a six-race period from late August to mid-October in the same year, completed another hat-trick in October to December 2023 and arrives here on another hat-trick after wins at Musselburgh/today’s venue. George Bewley’s veteran has chase figures immediately following a win of 11251131 (5-8), with the fifth place coming in Grade 3 handicap chase company. This is a bigger field than he’s used to but he’s still worth a bet. I’ll be having a saver on pace angle HARJO despite him pulling up at Newcastle last time.

4.13 Exeter – MUSICAL SLAVE (1pt win – 4/1 various)
MUSICAL SLAVE took his record in the spring (March to May) to six wins from 16 starts when arriving late to land a 3m4f handicap chase at Taunton a couple of weeks ago and can follow up. In Class 3 or lower company only his record at this time of year reads 61111351 (5-8) for a profit of £14.80 to a £1 level stake at SP. He was a distant last of three finishers in this race 12 months ago, but the heavy ground didn’t suit. ART DECCO, another spring horse, will provide a stern test but is priced accordingly. That said, I will save on the ART DECCO/MUSICAL SLAVE straight forecast or Tote Exacta.
