1.50 Huntingdon – GINNY’S DESTINY (1pt win – 2/1 generally)
Most of the Paul Nicholls runners were improving for their comeback efforts when GINNY’S DESTINY pulled up in the Paddy Power Gold Cup (3-1 favourite) and I’m prepared to forgive that run, which also came on unsuitably fast going (officially good). It was a similar story last year when he finished a 29-length seventh of nine on good ground at Cheltenham’s October meeting before recording form figures of the remainder of the season of 11122 (3-5), with both runner-up efforts in Grade 1 company. Aside from seasonal debuts, his record below Grade 1 level stands at 1123111 (5-7), including a three from three haul for his current trainer. He’s 0-2 right-handed but the ground has come right and he’s worth a small interest.

2.50 Kelso – FLOWER OF SCOTLAND (1pt win – 7/1 Paddy Power, 6/1 William Hill)
FLOWER OF SCOTLAND was beaten by almost 22 lengths into fifth place at Carlisle on her reappearance five weeks ago, but that stiff right-handed track was far from ideal. Sandy Thomson’s nine-year-old was sent off at 40-1 on her first run since April and first since a wind operation and will improve for it. Her Kelso record reads 1113 (3-4) with the defeat by less than three lengths and she won this race by six lengths last year. I’ve saved on PINOT ROUGE.

Andrew Mount’s Myth Busters – Front Runners Are Strongly Favoured at Leicester
We are often told that certain tracks favour front-runners, but hurdle and chase courses can ride very differently, and we can’t always group these races together when considering the ideal running style for a particular venue. Leicester is a case in point, and I want to use this article to examine what’s required to win…
