Fresh from tipping up a 10/1 winner (Jm Jungle) on day one of York’s Ebor Festival Andrew Mount looks to taste more success on Thursday and he has three selections for the action on the Knavesmire.

1.50 York – LEOVANNI (1pt win – 2/1 generally)
Eight of the last ten Lowther winners were successful in their prep race and I was taken with LEOVANNI’s Queen Mary Stakes win at Royal Ascot as she had a lowish draw, not easy to overcome in that 5f contest. Since 2017, backing Queen Mary runners who were drawn in stall 12 or lower on their next start, regardless of where they finished at Ascot, would have found 26 winners form 83 bets for a profit of £22.62 to a £1 level stake at SP. Well drawn in stall 8, she’s going to take a world of beating today.
2.25 York – ARIZONA BLAZE (2pt win – 11/4 generally)
ARIZONA BLAZE impressed me with his 14-1 third of 13 in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot, as he raced alone on the stands’ side rail when all the action was far side. Adrian Murray’s juvenile again raced alone when third in the Group 2 Railway Stakes at the Curragh next time before his fine third to the brilliant Babouche and Whistlejacket (winner of the Group 1 Prix Morny since) when third in the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes over the same course and distance. That run came just 12 days ago but this represents a drop in class and his forcing style will be an asset.
4.10 York – ESMERAY (0.5pt ew – 25-1 Sky Bet, four places, 25-1 generally, three places)
Ralph Beckett’s ESMERAY won three handicaps on the bounce before his 10-1 tenth of 13 in a Listed race at Newmarket last time and is taken to bounce back at a track that should her prominent running style. She contributed to a pace collapse at HQ last time where the first three were described by the Racing Post as ‘towards rear’, ‘in rear’ and ‘held up in rear’ and one of the prominent racers – eight-length fifth Divina Grace – has won since. Divina Grace has prospects of following up but Esmeray is around twice the price of that rival and looks worth a speculative each-way play.
