1.45 Lingfield – AWORKINPROGRESS (13-8 bet365)
With the Venetia Williams-trained Camulus not looking straightforward in his two chase runs last season (beaten at evens favourite and 9-4 favourite) and Vision De Maine not sure to appreciate the very deep ground (now described as soft, heavy in places, with some standing water) the way looks clear for AWORKINPROGRESS to complete his hat-trick. Nick Gifford’s five-year-old clocked a fast time when successful on heavy ground at Stratford last month and that race has worked out well, with runner-up The Scorpion King going one better at Ffos Las (17-2) and third-placed Northern Reel scoring at Leicester (11-4). The fourth and fifth also weighed in with subsequent placed efforts and the form looks solid for the grade. At the time of writing, he was 2-1 with the Betfair exchange but 13-8 best with the firms (bet365), so it could pay to wait before betting until 7-4+ pops up.
