3.25 Punchestown – AKECHETA (1pt win – 7/2 bet365)
We have a rare Flat meeting at Punchestown today where it has proved difficult to make the running in recent years. Gesture is likely to take them along in the early stages in this 1m1f conditions contest and could prove vulnerable as a result. This is likely to develop into a straight fight between Star Harbour (forecast to start at 8-13) and AKECHETA. The last-named caused a 40-1 surprise at Tipperary on her debut back in May and has proved that was no fluke with runner-up efforts at Gowran Park and Roscommon. The first-time tongue-tie could bring about improvement and Star Harbour, twice a winner over 1m4f, is likely to find this trip on the short side.

5.40 Yarmouth – IT’S SHOWTIME (1pt win – 5/1 bet365)
IT’S SHOWTIME has only scored once from 16 starts but she seems happiest on straight courses and 11 of her runs came on turning tracks. Her straight-track record stands at 13226 (0-5) – from left to right: 1st – scored easily over 5f at Lingfield (100-30f), 3rd – fared best of those drawn low when placed at 14-1 at Thirsk, 2nd at 12-1 – again did best of the low draws at Thirsk, 2nd – beaten by a head over 5f at Yarmouth, and 6th (11-1) – might have placed but for getting squeezed out, again over 5f at Yarmouth. She drops down to Class 6 company after her last time out third in a Class 5 fillies’ handicap on the all-weather and Billy Loughnane is a positive booking.
