7.08 Roscommon – STORMIE OUTLOOK (0.5pt e/w – 14/1 generally)
STORMIE OUTLOOK hit form at around this time of year last season, landing one-mile handicaps at Gowran Park (June 16) and Killarney (July 17), both on good ground. The six-year-old has been mostly quiet since September’s half-length second of 14 at Punchestown but showed plenty more at Limerick last time when an 11-1 fourth of 11 in a fillies’ handicap. She raced in the ‘swamp’ on the inside rail that day, doing well to go from eighth to fourth place in the closing stages. Admittedly, the race was set up for her closing style, but it was still a good effort given the route she took and the return to a longer trip could aid her cause in a race that looks set to be run at a sound pace.
8.30 Chelmsford – ROAD TO WEMBLEY (1pt win – 8/1 Sky Bet)
ROAD TO WEMBLEY was almost four lengths back in third place when 9-4 favourite for a 1m6f handicap at Sandown last month but he’s yet to win on turf and that effort was worthy of an upgrade as he raced on the inside of the track when it paid to challenge out wide. The Richard Hughes-trained four-year-old won over 1m6f here on his penultimate outing and won’t be inconvenienced by the step back up to two miles. He was unlucky not to win over the extended 1m5f last July on his only other course outing and looks the likeliest pace angle tonight.
