ALBUS ANNE’s two wins have come in the autumn at Bath, including last time out when Jimmy Fox’s five-year-old arrived late off a strong pace to score by over two lengths. It was tempting to conclude that she was flattered by the pace collapse but she won with a ton in hand and the pace scenario looks very similar this afternoon, with three front-runners in the line-up. Her latest win came on good ground, but her other course win came on soft going and she has placed on heavy going before.

6.00 Newcastle – CUBAN LYNX (1pt win – 9/1 William Hill, Ladbrokes)
Craig Lidster’s CUBAN LYNX looks to have been campaigned with nurseries in mind, catching the eye at Redcar on September 17th – his third run for a handicap mark. He finished last of six that day but was 150-1, travelled well and wasn’t given a hard time in the closing stages. His trainer is in good form at the moment and his last dozen handicap debutants have included winners at 22-1 and 6-1.
