4.55 Wolverhampton – MY BROTHER MIKE (2pt win – 9/2 bet365, Betfair, William Hill)
The form of King Of Speed’s 8.6f Wolverhampton win over Conquest Of Power on February 10 is working out well, with the runner-up landing both subsequent outings (10-11 and 7-2, latterly when tipped in this column), third-placed Mariner returning to Wolverhampton to score at odds of 7-2 just eight days later and the fourth, Marioento, winning at 5-2 on his next start. The David Loughnane-trained MY BROTHER MIKE might be old enough to smoke as my GG colleague Dave Young would say but the veteran only went down by a length and a half when a never-nearer fifth in that race and the step back up to 9.4f won’t be a problem. He clocked a fast time for his latest effort and the excellent Rossa Ryan retains the ride.

8.00 Wolverhampton – EARLY MORNING DEW (1pt e/w – 12/1 bet365, William Hill, both three places, 9/1 Sky Bet, four places)
The front-runners never came back in the 1m2f Lingfield handicap won by Raintown on February 7th and it’s safe to ignore the defeat of 5-1 chance EARLY MORNING DEW, six lengths back in fifth place, who was ridden patiently, and he also took the ‘swamp’ route on the inside rail. Jim and Suzi Best’s nine-year-old went close over 1m4f at the same venue on his penultimate start and it’s very interesting to see him return to Wolverhampton for the first time since December 2021. His two runs here produced a 125-1 third in novice company before a one-length 9-2 third in a maiden over tonight’s 1m4f trip and his patient running style is well suited to this course and distance. His two most recent spins on Tapeta resulted in placed efforts at Southwell last year and he holds solid each-way claims.
