2.15 Chepstow – CASTELFORT (1pt win – 6/1 bet365)
The form of CASTELFORT’s 2m course win from Bucephalus at last month’s Welsh National meeting is working out extremely well, with the runner-up, third, fifth and eighth all winning at the next time of asking while the ninth was placed at 16-1. Jane Williams’ five-year-old clocked a fast time for that success and today’s step up to 2m3.5f is unlikely to be an issue. He won the Junior “National Hunt” Hurdle at this meeting 12 months ago and his full course record stands at 211 (2-3), with the defeat on his racecourse debut when in need of the experience.

3.17 Chepstow – TWILIGHT GLORY (1pt win – 5/1 bet365)
TWILIGHT GLORY performs best in the depths of winter, with last month’s Lingfield win taking his record in the December to February period to 4421111 (4-7), improving to 21111 (4-5) over fences only with the runner-up effort at 12-1. He steps up in class here but clocked a good time for his latest win and the form was boosted when six-length fourth Mortens Leam won at Fakenham next time. The switch to Chepstow won’t be an issue either as he’s two from two over fences here in the peak winter period.
4.30 Wolverhampton – YEOMAN (1pt win – 11/4 bet365)
The concern with YEOMAN is that he hasn’t won since September 2023, but James Fanshawe’s five-year-old can usually be relied upon to run his race on Tapeta granted a decent gallop. He fared best of the closers when a half-length third over the 8.6f trip here last time (he’s up to 9.4f tonight) and two of the other patiently-ridden runners in that contest – fifth-placed Ciotog and ninth-placed Jersey Rocs – finished one-two here next time at 4-1 and 5-1 respectively for a £24.09 CSF. Yeoman now has a course record of 11195233 (3-8) and there are enough pace horses in opposition to set it up for him.
6.30 Wolverhampton – QUIET RESOLVE (1pt win – 7/1 William Hill)
The inside of the track had looked the place to be at Chelmsford’s televised Saturday meeting on January 11th and that was certainly the case in the 1m Class 3 bet365 Handicap, with the first five home drawn 2, 5, 4, 1 and 7 of 16. QUIET RESOLVE (stall 12), one of two I backed in that race, turned out to have little chance from his draw and did well to finish a four-length eighth after meeting trouble in-running on his Polytrack debut. Richard Fahey’s four-year-old, a dual winner on Newcastle’s Tapeta, has placed in both starts at tonight’s venue and can bounce back in this less-competitive contest.
