2.20 Brighton – GOLDEN PHARAOH (1pt win – 11/2 bet365, 9/2generally)

GOLDEN PHARAOH did too much too soon into the headwind when ninth of 14 to Stanage in a 7f Class 4 Doncaster handicap last month and will be happier back down to Class 5 level at a gaff track. The four-year-old has yet to win since leaving France but last summer’s 28-1 Chester fourth to Al Shabab Storm suggests that today’s sharp left-handed track could suit and he’s 11lb lower today.

3.05 Punchestown – ALMUHIT (1pt win – 11/1 Sky Bet, 10/1 generally)

ALMUHIT took a big step forward after a wind operation earlier this year, scoring impressively at Southwell in February despite racing in the ‘swamp’ on the inside rail. Gary Brown’s six-year-old comfortably defied an 8lb higher mark at Warwick the following month, recording a good speed figure in the process, and looks very interesting now switched to in-form Faye Bramley. The Lambourn handler scored with another ex-Gary Brown runner at Chepstow a few days ago – 2-1 shot Amancio – and the son of Sea The Stars can continue his progression.

3.53 Nottingham – YOKKELL (1pt win – 4/1 generally)

This looks like a race worth getting involved in as 15-8 favourite NOISY JAZZ can ruin her chance by pulling hard and 5-2 second favourite UNDER THE TWILIGHT was flattered by her Doncaster third from off the pace. The one who could take advantage is Kevin Philippart De Foy’s YOKKELL, who makes her stable debut after leaving John McConnell. The six-year-old’s new handler does well on turf at the first time of asking with horses he takes over from other yards, scoring with eight of the 36 qualifiers for a profit of £6.17 and she could be in receipt of an easy lead.
